Alverca was home to Portugal's first international airport until the 1940s, when Lisbon opened its replacement. The Museu do Ar (Air Museum) fills the void — it's one of the better aviation museums in southern Europe, housed in the old airport buildings. It has a pilgrim stamp. The museum is on your right as you approach town; the pedestrian bridge over the railway is opposite it.
The expectation is that you walk on the left side of the road, against oncoming traffic. For this reason, the arrows are more abundant and easier to see from the left side of the road. Keep an eye out for them on traffic and electric posts.
Alverca was the home of Portugal’s first International Airport until the 1940’s when Lisbon opened its replacement. To fill the void left by its departure, they built the Museu do Ar, which as aviation museums go ranks pretty high. It also has a stamp.
When approaching Alverca, keep an eye out for the Air Museum on your right-hand side. Opposite it is the pedestrian bridge over the railway that you will need to cross over into town. Follow the arrows and Fatima signs and to the N10. It is a busy road but with wide berms.

The dinner place across from Alfa10 is such a great deal. Service starts at 1900 (7pm) for dinner. €13 for soup, main course, desert and just about any drink. It’s not a place to hangout, it’s more of an after work eatery, so turn around is fast.

We booked our first night here on may 7th 2026 by E-mail. We were friendly welcomed by the host. The Venue is beatifully renewed with light modern and clean rooms, shared bathrooms on each floor. With airco in room! Dinner at restaurant Laterna opposite is open from 6-23 and offers nice and affordable meals and Services. Double room €50,- for Pellegrino’s was So very well recommended.

Love this place! There’s like an elderly lady caretaker here but she’s the sweetest and friendliest lady you ll meet even though she doesn’t speak a lick of English. I’m so grateful they opened their doors to us. For 50 euros for 2 single bed with dedicated shower… it’s quite a steal!

No accomodation in town, ended up getting an air bnb about 10km away. The hostess qas kingmd enough to pick me up, order me uber eats, and drop me back the next day. Shout out to Villa Pisco!

The road section was horrible in the fumes of vehicles speeding by so close. I coukd taste fuel on my lips.
Good shout to get bus to Oviete, saved 8kn and I stoll walked 30 today. Big recommend to nit skip ghe boardwalk section out of Lisbon. I LOVED it... so beautiful wrapped in nature

Checked in at around midday. At first the door was locked but there is an intercom on the door you can push and someone will answer.
The man is very friendly and gave us a twin room with a shared bathroom for €20 each.
After a long walk from Lisbon it’s a nice clean place to arrive at. Clean towels and fresh bedding.
Plenty of stores around to grab supplies.
Try the restaurant across the street called ‘A Lanterna’ it’s just a few metres away from Alfa10. The food is cheap but good!

Home cooked Portugues food just around the corner from Alfa 10. The friendly English speaking staff can help you decipher the menu. I had the traditional Portuguese cabbage soup (1.5 Euro). They also have a large selection of pastries and coffee for your early morning start.
I may be the only person staying at Alfa 10 tonight. Only saw one pilgrim on the long walk through the estuary today.

Messaged alfa10 the night before and they sorted us a room - was pleasant. Not an issue, but something to be aware of, the start of the route back to Camino was a half hour away for us, something to plan into your timings!

Tried Alfa10 first but it was full. Restaurante A Lanterna across the street had beds available for €25. I was in a big room with three beds and a bathroom and since no one else showed up I had it all to myself. Very clean. I went downstairs for a delicious and very filling meal, including soup and a dessert was €10.50.

Alpha 10 was booked full when I showed up. No help finding a place, I had to go 2 towns up another 16km at the end of a long day.

Very clean place and the owner reserved us a private room in our next resting place the next day...He was very friendly...We eat at the recommended restaurant across the street...tasty food for a small price...

After a long day of walking around 30km, we didn't have any reservation and we didn't know where to sleep (because our planned accommodation was closed). We decided to call to Alfa 10 (around 16.00) and the guy who picked up was very helpful, he said he still has free room and it can be ready for us immediately. When we came there, we wanted a room for two with shared bathroom (40€), the guy was so nice that he "upgraded" our room and he gave us room with private bathroom. The room was clean, with towels and bedsheets, free WiFi. The bathroom was also in a good condition. The only thing what I missed was kitchen and some place to dry my clothes (but other than that, everything was good). The location of Alfa 10 is great, it is located close to the shopping centre.

Right across the street from Alfa10 is this great restaurant. Highly recommend. For dinner: basket of bread, plate of beef, potatoes, rice, salad, and a big piece of cake for dessert, plus a beer = all total €11!

Stayed here 07/04/2023 after a long day from city centre Lisbon! Super helpful, nice and clean. €40 for a private room or €45 for private room with private bathroom which was defo worth the extra €5!

I made a booking at alfa10 by phone for 25 euro. When i arrived they said that my place wasn't available anymore due some other person didn't leave that day. They said they had another room for 38 euros which i didn't found fair, we had a agreement.
After repeating this many times they gave me a private room for 25 euro

We stayed in Alfa10 on our Camino late October 2021. We found bed bugs, throwing everyone into panic. I’m pretty sure it’s an occasional finding, since I always heard good things about this place, but I thought it was fair to share my experience

Oct 2021 - with bicycle storage in larger bed room, Alpha 10 charges 30 euros. Clean, hot shower. En-suite AC.wifi. Good cafe opposite. (9 euro for fish, desert, coffee and bear!)

Due to most hostels being closed due COVID-19, I was suggested the place below by one of the restaurants along the way.
It’s called Alpha 10 and a twin room, shared shower and toilet is €17 a night, clean and friendly.
