About Wise Pilgrim

I'm Michael Matynka. I've spent 25 years around the Camino de Santiago, walked most of the routes on this site more than once, and I live in Galicia, where they all end. Wise Pilgrim is the guidebook I wanted on my first walk and couldn't find.

Every town page here was written after walking through it, and most have been rewritten since. The albergue that reopened with half the beds, the ferry that stopped running, the bar that now does breakfast — that is the kind of thing that changes, and the kind of thing that decides your day. The same data runs the books, the apps and this website, so a change on the trail is a change everywhere.

There are no stages in any of it, which is deliberate: here's why. If you haven't settled on a route yet, every camino is listed and measured.

Wise Pilgrim SL is a one-person company based in Galicia. There is no call centre — it's me.

Found something wrong?

A closed albergue, a new one, a price that's moved, a path that changed — send it to editor@wisepilgrim.com and I'll fix it.
