Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino Portugués app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

The ground behind you: what the walk into Parque das Nações (Lisboa) crosses, and where it could have been broken.
Tomorrow from Parque das Nações (Lisboa)
Nothing says you have to stop here, or there. These are simply the towns within a comfortable day's walk, so you can decide tonight.

Also known as Oriente, Parque das Nacoes occupies the site of the 1998 Expo and is now Lisbon's modern quarter — wide promenades, contemporary architecture, and the Oceanario de Lisboa, one of the largest aquariums in Europe. The bus and rail stations are here, and the Metro's Oriente stop is the last one convenient to the camino.
The park along the Rio Tejo provides the first green space since leaving the city centre. Services line the promenade to your left, slightly off the camino. Between here and Azambuja the camino runs largely through industrial areas and along roads — not the most scenic walking.
If you planned on skipping any part, this is the logical place: turn left toward Oriente station and take the commuter train to Azambuja. It costs about 4 euros, runs every 30 minutes, and takes less than an hour.
Well marked but not much to look at, the camino turns inland at Sacavém. The park ends in a parking lot and follows a wide joggers path along the canal. You will follow this canal inland, around a heavily developed hillside along the Rio Trancao, and then back to the Rio Tajo near Póvoa.

I followed the "new" Camino route along the boardwalk to Alverca. Yes, it is a safe route away from traffic. Yes, it is very pleasant with views of the estuary and wetlands/salt marsh. BUT, there is no support at all, no café or food for most of it - so you need to carry supplies. OR follow the older routes along the roads where there are food/drink options.
Direction signs at the end of the boardwalk also need improved - you'll still need your phone to rejoin the old camino route to carry on!

I walked from the Lisbon Cathedral to Parque das Nacoes and then further on to the Igreja de Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes where they had a stamp. I was there on a Saturday and just happened to get lucky that the secretary was there for meetings. She said they are usually only there during the weekdays. This was an easy way to break up the distance for my first day as I took a bus back in to a Lisbon hostel and then in the morning took the bus back and walked to Vila Franca de Xira making my second day only 25 km instead of 36 km.

You can get a stamp at Igreja de Nossa Senhora dos Navigentes church office. The staff is kind and helpful. Just before the Vasco da Gama bridge.
