Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino Portugués app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Nothing says you have to stop here, or there. These are simply the towns within a comfortable day's walk, so you can decide tonight.

After the highway, the walk into O Porriño can follow the main road or the river — the split occurs immediately after passing under the highway, with the river route requiring an immediate left turn. Distance is the same either way; the river is preferable.
The walk into O Porriño can be done along the main road, or along the river, and again there are lots of conflicting arrows and warnings painted everywhere. The split occurs immediately after passing under the highway, and the new alternative river route requires an immediate left turn. The distance into town is the same.

I really needed this alternate route after some time on roads/industrial areas. It’s not the same natural beauty as the previous days but better than walking on a busy road. I do feel it took longer than a straight road, but worth it.

Even in winter the river route is just fine

We took the river route today at the end of the walk into O Porrino and regretted it. It felt isolated and a bit unsafe, plus they are digging it up in places so not easy to traverse.
Would suggest the approved alternative route marker is followed after you go under the bridge.

Their are several places along this route to take your shoes off and enjoy the river. After a long day of walking the cool water was refreshing.

I don't think the river route is the same distance as the standard route. The signboard at the start suggests it is longer by about 1.5 km. Having now done both, the river routeIt is much nicer, and well worth doing.

On the far edge of town there is a wonderful pilgrims and locals cafe, called San Campio, with omelettes, sandwiches and salads. Great music. Perfect rest stop before the last 3-4 IMS into O Porrino.
