Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino Portugués app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Services

Getting past Cesantes means crossing the N550 at probably the most dangerous point — a blind curve. Head straight across and keep right. The climb around O Viso peak follows, passing an installation of pilgrim shells where you can leave a message on a sun-bleached shell if you have a marker. Downhill again to the N550 and Arcade.

The Camino:

Getting past Cesantes means crossing the N550 once more, at probably the most dangerous point in a curve in the road. Head straight across and keep to your right. You are climbing uphill now and will traverse around the O Viso peak. Along the way you pass an installation of pilgrim shells and if you have a marker on hand you can leave a message on a sun-bleached shell. From here it is downhill again to the N550.At the entrance to Arcade, the camino turns left rather unnecessarily. It will cross back over the N550 in a few hundred meters, taking you past the albergues and shops of Arcade.

Follow the arrows

Follow the arrows when it veers right away from the Wise Pilgrim route. There is a little more climbing to do but you avoid the highway.

Wise pilgrim giving a different route

Per the comment below, as you head in arcade the app tells you to go left and the arrow rights - we followed the arrow and it was fine! :)

Trail downhill into Arcade

Over the apparent crest of the hill, past the shells and bar sign, the yellow arrows veer right of the Wise Pilgrim map. We assume this is to avoid the road crossings before Arcade. Take note that the new path, while safer, does involve a couple of sharp ascents and a winding downhill trail on a forestry road. Hot and dry on a summer afternoon. Fill water at fountain on Cesantes side. Does bring you out across from Filla do Mar.
Trust the arrows!

Wonderful stop-over

Stayed at A Darsena do Frances, very restful after walking in the rain. Sunshine by the time we got there. So peaceful and quiet sitting in the garden.

Use the crosswalk signal!

Not 50m to the left of where you arrive at the N550 is a well-lit and signaled pedestrian crosswalk, take advantage!

N550 is so dangerous in the dark !!

I had left my albergue at 6h30, so it was a very early morning for me and still dark outside as I had to walk this road and it was really scary. Would really not recommend to do it in the dark !

Highly recommend Casa D’Mina

A beautiful place to stay. A rural guesthouse. Amazing accommodations and worth a visit. Right on the Camino after a lot of hills to Redondela and before the last set of hills to Pontevedra!

Lunch spot / great

We happened to stop at La Creación directly on Main Street on right. Extensive menu, our meal was delivered by a robot/serving cart. She came to our table with our meals. Once we removed our plates and pushed a button she responded nicely and returned to the kitchen. Meal was very flood and reasonable

21. April 2023 - 8:40

No longer dangerous 550 crossing

There is now a pedestrian crossing with light to your left as you come up the path to the 550.

Meal at Jumboli is really big

Meal at Jumboli is really big! I (girl) couldn’t finish both dishes. Delicious homemade food. EUR 9,5 with the beer.

4. September 2019 - 8:34

Wonderful place to stay.

Wonderful place to stay. House is situated 10 minutes off the Camino, before reaching the track leading to Pension Jumboli.
Spotless accommodation, big single room (doubles available), huge garden with classic view of the Vigo bridge, breakfast supplied, very friendly owner. In 12 years on Caminos, this is the best ever.
