Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino del Norte app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Services

O Cadavo remains a largely agricultural town where the industry is cows -- both dairy and beef -- and you're bound to see more than one tanker truck on its rounds. The town sits at a slightly lower altitude than the surrounding terrain, which makes a substantial difference in snowfall during winter months. The views from the approach are wide and open, a taste of the rolling Galician landscape that replaces the sharp mountain terrain you've been crossing.

The town itself is unremarkable but functional, with enough services to resupply and enough bars to celebrate surviving the rompe piernas.

The Camino:

The camino between here and Castroverde manages to avoid the steep LU-530 entirely. From O Cádavo it continues uphill along a farm lane to the town of Pradeda where you can look back for a nice view of O Cádavo. Beyond Pradeda the climb continues up to the Alto de Vacariza.

Correction in right road to get to the town

GPS indicates you to go into wood to go down to this town. However, this path is no longer valid and is blocked with bushes about 300m in. Just follow the pilgrim arrow stone and go up the hill and down to get to the town. Don’t follow the app gps.

Visit the FREE city pool!

The municipal pool is free and open! (Despite what Google says) The water is cold and refreshing on a hot day and it’s only a 5-6min walk from town. Absolutely worth visiting!

Amarronda rooms were great

We stayed above the bar on a floor of say six newly renovated rooms. A real bargain

Pension Rest Day

After 10 days of alburgue & hostels filled with broken washers, dryers, showers, etc. it is wonderful to be somewhere where everything works. It’s a few extra bucks but the value for rest after several long hard days in a row is priceless. Most comfortable bed I’ve been on in Spain yet.

And Mery is wonderful. So many thanks to her.
