Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino del Norte app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

At the end of town there are markers for another complementaria route, this time for a detour to the Iglesia de Soutomerille (see below). This worthwhile alternative adds 700m to the journey, through an evergreen forest.

Not much to add

Truly an oasis. Make this stop part of your plan. If you pass this particular alburgue you have missed some of the spirit of the Camino in my opinion.

Surprisingly modern remodel. EXCELLENT hosts. I can not compliment the facility and family enough. Would come back for a longer stay.

Wonderful stay!

Everything that has been written is true! This family run albergue is a fabulous stop before Lugo. After the past 2 demanding days, we were very glad for a shorter walk and a wonderful place to relax. Fabulous communal dinner for a reasonable price. They even prepared lunch for us because there was nothing open in Castroverde on our way here since it is Sunday.

Incredible place, really, truly

No need to rush to Lugo. My advice is to stay here as a halfway point. Everything is first cabin! It is high end resort quality. Amazing.

Kindness, Concern, and generosity

I had initially hurt my knee on the descent from Hospitales. I skipped a day and took a bus about 15 minutes away. I arrived around 10:00 am. They let me in early and gave me an ice pack for my knee. This place is an oasis and a paradise.

Magical place

We were lucky to stay at this wonderful Albergue this week. What a gem on this Camino! It is my favorite Albergue ever. The owners are helpful, and it was nice to chat with David. They’re also very considerate with dietary restrictions. The interior design is breathtaking. Don’t miss this albergue!

Lovely. Clean, quiet and comfortable.

Private rooms are luxurious - spacious and tastefully furnished - 60 euro, but felt more like a tourist resort than Pension. The albergue bunks are 20 euro.
Communal dinner was good value at 14 euro. Breakfast was thin, but only 4.
Lovely garden to relax in.
Very hospitable hosts
The smell from the cows could be an issue for some, and it would be good if they also provided a bath mat.

So nice, so good, so generous

This place is incredible:
-the facilities are amazingly renovated with so much taste yet keeping the original style. Private room and dormitory are beautifull. The outside place for eating is so comfortable.
-the food is soooo good and generous. Best tortilla eaten in Spain. You cab stop eating 2 days before you plan to stay in the albergue ;-)
-the mother who cooks is very friendly, lively and loving. The father is like a rough farmer but so kind and the 2 sons are very helpfull.
You have to make your planning so that you spend one night there. No jokes!

A Pociña de Muñiz

Best albergue on Camino Primitivo for sure! Worth staying 100%! You just have to visit this place on your way! Atmosphere of old Spanish rural house with modern design makes it absolutely unique. Fantastic garden to chill after walk in hammocks. Great beds with curtains, laundry, clean and modern bathrooms- everything great!
And please don’t miss communal dinner made from local products from their farm- it was fantastic experience of mix of Galician food and owners hospitality, absolutely worth it!
Owners are super kind and friendly. Thank you!
Also it is only 15 km from Lugo, so you would have long day in Lugo as well!

Best Alburgue ever!!!!!

Like walking into a 4 seasons alburgue...at 1st , outer street area was unassuming, but inside, you were transported in a superior sleeping, kitchen, bath areas that wot dissapoint. we're we rested outside and watched the cows stroll by...great dinner...breakfast is just toast..

Extraordinary!

Without a doubt, my favorite stop on Primitivo! Beautiful space, lovely garden for lounging, phenomenal dinner with home made soup, fresh salad and barbecue. Don’t miss this special oasis between ocadavo and lugo . Amazing in every way… this is my 8th camino and This ranks in top 3 of everywhere I’ve stayed!!!

Fantastic albergue

It was like an upscale boutique hotel crossed with an albergue. Clean stylish and sophisticated. Great family style meal in a converted 100 year old out building. An excellent camino experience and the best place I have stayed.

Truely magic

This family business is simply beautiful to say the least!! From the moment you enter, you are welcomed and then blown away by the superb accommodation, design is delightful and a credit to them. One mustn’t miss it. Thank you to the family for offering such a wonderful stay. Much loved , Rosalind from Australia

Oh my goodness …

We managed to get a spot here in early Sept . I don’t want to tell you how great this 3 (or 4?) generations of family works to make your stay remarkable and memorable, because then everyone would know this secret!). Wow!

19. August 2022 - 22:51

Walk a little bit longer than Castroverde

The last km is worth it. This is so far the best Albergue we have visited.

People with such wonderful big hearts.
