Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino Portugués app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

A small village with a new albergue in the basement of the community centre, an ATM, a mini-market, and a friendly bar. The name derives from the Arabic al-burj (the tower), though the tower itself is long gone.
The stretch before Alvorge follows sections of an old Roman road — the arrows have disappeared but the path is clear. Keep straight and you'll arrive.
This gravel path is part of an old Roman road, and the arrows have disappeared. Just keep on straight. When it arrives at a paved road, turn left. But DO NOT stay on this road all the way back to the N347. The arrow is gone, but when you get to a curve in the road, the track to the right is the one you want. That curve in the paved road is 300m from the visible N347, so if you get as far as the main road, you can either retrace your steps or walk the N347 into town.
The tower which gives the town its name (from the Arabic Al Burj) is no more.
Facing the crucifix side of the church, turn right towards the main road (newly cobbled) and turn right onto that road. You should now have a large modern building on your left (the community center and albergue), and you will be going downhill. Continue to the first road and turn left there, downhill. The camino will bring you to the N347, which you follow to the left for a very short distance. It then turns right onto a gravel path.

The albergue looked wonderful but there was a paper that said closed. We thought this was Casa da Lima but this was another 6 km. It was late and we were so tired and couldn’t walk another step. But we had to sleep somewhere. Ay Lin from Casa da Lima was worried and she picked us up by car. We were so happy that she insisted

The owner is passionate about making each pilgrim feel pampered! It is much more than a beautiful and clean place; the bunks are private and roomy, the pilgrim meal of a restaurant standard; nothing is too much!

Our host was so very wonderful. We arrived as the restaurant was filled with locals for a 60th birthday party. He was bartending it all by himself and also helping pilgrims check in. He was so sweet and helped us mop up the water on the floor.
We enjoyed a wonderful communal dinner with the other pilgrims and he even gave us a discount for helping him clean up. He gave my friend a free ice cream and was so kind and gracious. He was running the albergue mostly alone and did a wonderful job.
The dormitories are absolutely gorgeous and so clean. Each bed has a beautiful curtain and a PowerPoint and light. There are cozy blankets under the beds and it is so quiet and comfortable.
The overall experience was amazing. I highly recommend staying here.

It was a welcomed sight after the hot ups and downs of today. Clean and spacious, will supply sheets and blankets but are extra. Great facilities and meal options! You can dry your clothes at the back. The beds are spacious and comfortable, no head bumping in these bunks!

There is a short cut than rather following the dog leg on the map. Go straigh past the church.

The town is very small. There is a private albergue at the entrance of the village and another one at the church. There is a small supermarket where you can find the basics but it’s a bit more expensive than usual.

[2021 Aug 23] There is a new albergue in town, just after the camino enters Alvorge, on the left. Nice accomodation (price is around €13), but no kitchen. Washing clothes by hand is no problem. Pilgrim menu in the restaurant for €7.5, with 2 big slices of pork (vegetarian option is also available). We had a very nice stay here.

[2021 Aug 21] I can confirm that the new albergue is open! Very nice and modern, bunk beds with curtains for privacy. Pilgrim menu in the café next door.

Just 1 km off-track from Alvorge is Casa Vale Do Florido, outstanding hospitality, convenient Cafe w/ dinner and breakfast. Beautiful location. Might need your GOS to get here but it is wonderful!
