Scenic view of Cernache on the Camino Portugués

Camino Portugués App

Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino Portugués app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Services

A town on the N1 with basic services. The camino passes through and continues toward Coimbra via a series of industrial buildings and residential areas. Not the most scenic stretch.

The Camino:

To leave town, continue along the road you came in on, past the church, to the roundabout with the clinica. Turn right there and pass under the N1 highway. Turn left at the next main road and follow it to the town of Pousada. In Pousada turn right past the church and then left onto the dirt track. The dirt track continues quietly for 2km before arriving at a series of industrial buildings. Turn left at the bus stop, and head into Palheira.

Café O Moleirinho

This Cafè appearing on your right hand side as you leave the village is a great choice for breakfast. It is well stocked. Even has freshly squeezed orange juice .

Albergue Krypteia in Cernache

Lovely place to stay. Clean , comfortable, wonderful backyard garden, great restaurant right across the street, a small market just around the bend, AND a cafe and pastelaria on the way out of town. Henrick is very friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the Camino. Henrick is what changes this from just a hostel into such a nice experience! Ok

Nice stay in Ribeira da Gasconha - 1.5 km before Cernache

As I had decided to split the day between Rabaçal and Coimbra, I found Casa da Amazônia (Amazon House) in Ribeira da Gasconha, just 1 km before Cernache. It is a very nice guesthouse with good beds. Owners are helpful, welcoming and gentle. Lea, the lady, authorized to share her number: +351 937 145 812.
