Get the appArnéguy sits right on the French-Spanish border, straddling the Nive river. It's the first settlement on the Valcarlos Route after leaving Saint Jean Pied de Port, about 8 km down the valley. A couple of bars, a few shops, and some accommodation options. The border crossing itself is unmarked and unremarkable — you simply walk across the bridge and you're in Spain.
Cross the main road (D933/N-135) and the bridge into Spain. The route follows a country road lower in the valley, bringing you into Valcarlos from below. The walking is flat and easy along the river.

In town just before the turn near the church is a public WC. It’s clean and functioning. Recommend!
