Best albergue

This was the best stay of my Camino. Dreis has rules and they are for the health, safety, and comfort of all. I especially loved no alarm in the morning! Great dinner and breakfast, meaningful conversation with others

Best place entire Camino

If you have the energy after Tui to keep walking i would a 100% recommend!!! The Belgian host Dries is an amazing host and has an amazing place reshaping my entire camino. Not only is it a great place to relax with pool and hammocks, he also cooks the dinner himself. The morning ritual is an amazing experience. To top it off, he helped me plan my spiritual way, what places to stay, what distances to walk and it for sure was an amazing route.

Best stay on the Camino

Slept here in July, reserving on the same day was still possible. Staying at Dries' is an experience, which you have to discover for yourself. Just know that you will have an extraordinary stay!

the best pit stop on your travels

was by far one of the loveliest stops on my trip. Dries was so funny and charming and the place felt completely like home. I would definitely come back - even just to get the recipe for the pasta dish he served.
I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here on their camino. the company and atmosphere was second to none! can’t imagine I’ll find a better place than this again x
thanks for having me - Emilie

Impressive place!

Where else can you stay where you are awaken with beautiful music (Ave Maria in my case) and a candlelight communal breakfast?! The owner, Dreis, also prepared a delicious homemade dinner full of much needed fresh vegetables and homemade ice cream for dessert! Oh and the outdoor shower was super refreshing after a nice Camino walk. This is a great place to stay, you won’t forget it.

Superb Albergue Host and Place

The reviews can’t do it justice. It’s a true mi casa su casa place run by the friendliest Belgium host, Dries and his dog, Otto. Family style sitting together to eat a healthy dinner served with wine and helpful guidance from a man who knows his way along the Caminha. Breakfast is a delightful surprise you can’t miss! Well worth the switch from the coastal to central route if just for this place alone. Go. You won’t be disappointed. You’ll probably leave with at least one new friend x

Unique place you must visit!

Casa Alternativo is a must-do while walking the Camino. Unique hostel with a free and creative soul, a high fun factor and very tasty food! Dries immediately makes you feel at home. As an experienced pilgrim, he is also happy to help you with tips and tricks about the routes. You can also go there for a drink and a fresh, high-quality lunch made with local products to cool down and boost your energy level.

Please stay here!

Such an amazing place. Very welcoming. Very heart warming. Host Dries, and his uncle are amazing people. Loved the dog too, so smart. What a nice environment. Just what you need after a long walk. Dinner and breakfast prepared with care, so special. Nice background music, and we woke up to music as well just in time for breakfast, no need to set the alarm. Very memorable stay. One of the best. Will definitely stay again.

Favourite place to stay

Ditto! Dries and his dog Otto are wonderful friendly hosts. We were walk-ins and got a room with twin beds. Fabulous service, food (organic and lovingly prepared) and company. Dries prepared an itinerary for us flow strollers for the Spir variant. He’s an expert on Caminos with terrific advice. Do go and enjoy.

If you can, stay here

It was a wonderful stay with Dries and Otto (dog). I arrived before the check in time. However I could just rest on the Terrasse and was even offered a soup to warm up. Dries is very passionate about his place and he has every right to. It’s clean, some of the best food (three course dinner and breakfast), all build by himself and friends and very good mattresses.
Thanks for having me!

What a place!

The best place I’ve stayed in walking from Porto. Dries is a wonderful host and have walked all the Caminos himself, so he got tons of experience and knows what a pilgrim needs. Lots of great stories too.
Got a 3-course meal when I was there in May and a nice breakfast. You can’t go wrong with this place. Great value for money.
