Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino del Norte app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.
Get the appTineo was built on the side of a steep valley and everywhere you go feels like a climb, but don't let that keep you in the albergue. The Iglesia de San Pedro anchors the town center, and adjacent to it the Museo de Arte Sacro holds a modest but worthwhile collection of sacred art. The town has enough bars and shops to fill an afternoon.
A detour from Piedratecha (the next village) leads to the ruins of the Monasterio de Santa Maria la Real de Obona, a Benedictine foundation that dates to at least the 11th century. The Romanesque church survives, and the setting in a narrow mountain valley is appropriately atmospheric.
Buy supplies. Between Tineo and Campiello there are no services apart from a fountain at the edge of Tineo.
San Pedro, patron of the town, is celebrated on the 29th of June. A longer fiesta runs from the 12th to the 18th of August in honor of San Roque.
Tineo's growth traces back to King Alfonso IX, who in the early 13th century mandated that all pilgrims pass through here. At that time the largest pilgrim hospital on this entire route was built -- the Mater Christi. The hospital itself is gone, but remnants of its chapel and exterior walls survive.
The camino descends to the center of Tineo as far as the church. From there it turns right and begins the uphill climb out of town on the Calle la Fuente; the fuente is the fountain at the edge of town near a small picnic area.

Little grocery but super friendly & helpful staff. We were hunty for almonds (Hospitales here we come!) and while the shelves were out, the gentleman kindly found some in the back, packaged some up for us Packed little shop but you will find everything you might need for the trail, food / snack wise, and great service.

Really nice hotel. Paloma, the owner, was not only very helpful but a lovely person. A must stay… All the rooms have views, they even have a good coffee machine for breakfast, And she keeps the prices low because she’s just a good person. Stay here.

An incredibly knowledgeable guide explained all the sculptures in the museum which made it come alive for us. Not a huge collection, but very significant. It was the highlight of our stay in Tineo

I was heading for the larger supermarket in Tineo, instead I found a lovely bakery with Spanish "pasty" big & round you can buy whole, half or quarter, with meat & without. It was still warm & delicious. It is on the bend in town next to a town hall? On the right above the road.

The service is very good. The room is very clean with great view. The breakfast has all kinds of coffee and tea with many kinds of pastry. With the fruits and ham we bought, we had a great breakfast.
The hotel also helped us book the room for our next stop and even managed to transport the glasses we forgot in the room. We feel really grateful and appreciate it very much.

Literally a palace of an albergue. 4 star hotel with 4 star albergue. Great bunks, beautiful bathrooms, and incredible food. Fancy menu del dia (only til 4) for 16 and amazing buffet breakfast for 10. Treat yourself!

The Church of St Peter at the top of the town is a worthwhile visit. For summer months they have a display dedicated to Romanesque/Gothic sculptures that were removed from dilapidated chapels in the region.
Worth a quick visit and a stamp on your credential.
