Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino del Norte app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.
Get the appPola de Allande sits on the bank of the Rio Nison and has never been easy to reach -- which explains why the medieval pilgrim hospitals were built up on the mountain passes rather than down here. The town is small but welcoming, and the Hotel La Nueva Allandesa routinely earns praise from pilgrims for generous portions of Asturian home cooking.
The Palacio de Cienfuegos de Penalba, a Renaissance manor, stands at the edge of town. Pola has been the historical capital of the Allande concejo -- a municipality that encompasses some of the most rugged terrain in western Asturias.
The camino leaves Pola along the road and passes the village of El Mazo.

If you’re staying at any of the places on the main road Galicia, you may need earplugs. The night I stayed at Hotel Lozano the street/bar noise went on until 3am. The hotel is okay. Small rooms but comfortable. The food in their restaurant was very good. Obviously not the standard of La Nueva Allandesa but very good nevertheless. Staff were friendly and helpful. Not a bad choice if you need a private room.
