Camino del Norte App

Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino del Norte app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

The Camino:

Be advised that there have been a growing number of false arrows in Paradanova. Some of them are the official looking blue and yellow plastic (most are painted arrows) signs.

These arrows are intended to detour you from Fonsagrada and towards A Proba de Burón and should be ignored.

The real camino into Fonsagrada follows South of the road (keep road on your right and dont cross it).

If you find that you have mistakenly followed the wrong arrows you will have another opportunity to get to Fonsagrada by turning left at the next large intersection.

A second turn to avoid Burgon

After going uphill a bit toward Fosangrada and just as you pass a lumberyard on your right, turn left and uphill onto a paved road. There are no correct markers here (only a false one to Burgon). But staying on the road heading uphill keeps you solidly on the way and straight into town:)

This intersection alone makes buying Wise Pilgrim worth it!

The markers that say “por Fosangrada 10K” and “por Burgon 11K” are obvious trickery. At the confusing intersection, cross UNDER the highway, stay left on the frontage path along the road and head UPHILL. This keeps you on the way (and avoids a tricky road crossing at a curve).

Steep climb!!

Be advised, if you have sore knees or feet, you might want to try the other route and NOT the A Fonsagrada route. I think the Buron route adds a few more meters but it might not have such a severe incline.

App route colours confusing

As others have noted there are now two very clear stone markers. We took the trail on the left, marked to A Fonsagrada which the app now shows with red dots rather than the usual green but it was a very steep climb up the trail to emerge onto the road at the start of town. I don’t know if the route shown with green dots and marked as being via Burón is any less steep, but it seems to be longer.

Make more clear

You follow the purple dots, however when you reach the very obvious stone pillars and signs to Burón, then you should follow the red dots and not the purple. The purple goes towards Burón before leasing back to A Fonsegrada.
So the explanation about keeping to the right side of the road is good but confusing that you change dot-colour for the main road.

Change

There are now very obvious stone pillars making the way, but the route to fonsagrada is different than the app shows, up a steep climb. It would be good to have the buron variant depicted on this map…
