Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino del Norte app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

O Pedrouzo is where most pilgrims spend their penultimate night. It's a modernized town with abundant beds but no charm, no monuments, and no outrageous legends. During peak season it feels overrun. The camino proper runs through forest to the north — if you stay the night, find the Calle de Condello, head uphill, and pick up the trail.
Avoid the temptation of following the main road out of Pedrouzo. There are very few arrows to get you back to the camino and following along the road puts you in very real danger and takes you away from a lovely forest walk. See note below to get back to the camino.
If you spent the night in O Pedrouzo, it is important to find your way back to the camino proper which runs through the forest to the north. To get to it, find the intersection of the main road and Calle de Condello (where the Casa do Concello is located). Continue uphill (north from here) and in a few hundred meters the camino presents itself. Turn left and continue through the forest to Amenal. The camino between here and Santiago is a mixture of rural and urban settings, some forests and some sprawl. The up and downs that you have been experiencing continue: the elevation gain/loss is +308/-339m, a not insignificant amount.

I agree with A Catrina's recommendations, but I want to warn against the breakfast scam at Panaderia CHE, where pilgrims are charged higher prices than on their price list. On their menu, coffee with milk cost 1.30 and orange juice 3, but for pilgrims there's an extra 1.50 added on top. When you ask why and point to the price list, they just say that's how it is. Most expensive orange juice and worst vibe in 35 days :/

Their artisan ice cream is the absolute best one I've had in the Francés. Good service, many unusual and delicious flavors. Total surprise find.

Here is another enthusiastic thumbs up for this Mexican restaurant. Great food! There is a terrace in the back, not super easy to find, with a beautiful view. Sit here if you want some quiet and peace.(and great food!)

We never expected good (Mexican) food in Pedrouzo. It is mid November and a Tuesday evening.
A Catrina has great food. Server spoke many languages. We had a simple salad, tacos and paella.
Many pilgrims are here !
If you are on The Camino in the off season, so many restaurants appear open in Google and other searches, but are not.
Buen Camino

This town is everything for everybody. Partying at the 19KM bar for the young ( follow the bright lights ) and great restaurants with good atmosphere for us slightly older. Taste the Way was amazing

Great lunch! We liked the garlic prawns, the goat cheese salad, spaghetti bolognese, and the scallops.
3. September 2024 - 20:38
Wonderful festive day of the dead decor with an original pilgrim stamp idea! Nice place for drink with a view of the valley, but food was expensive and disappointing.
8. August 2024 - 14:40
Such rude staff and the food was very ordinary. Slammed down on the table, no cutley or serviette. Also got the eye roll when I asked twice for ice for my drink.
Avoid it.

This boutique hotel is actually in Arzúa, not O Pedrouza, fyi.

I stopped in looking for something that offered food options that included anything that grew from the ground…meaning vegetables. I was overjoyed to find out that they offered several different salads and other traditional and non-traditional options that were delish and that were a welcome break from the traditional tortilla or ham sandwich. I had a mixed salad and the tacos. Good beer selection too! 10/10 would recommend.

For those inclined to seek out a mass, this church was beautiful, with a unique altar, a friendly and welcoming priest, and of course, a stamp at the end of the service.

Taste the Way was a welcome find-very fresh and a fun atmosphere with one big long table. Definitely recommend!
