Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Vía de la Plata app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.
Get the appA small hamlet with a hermitage, the Ermita de las Angustias. There's a bar here for a quick stop before the descent to the Río Ulla and Ponte Ulla.
The camino continues its descent towards the Río Ulla and the bridge town of Ponte Ulla.

About 900 m before San Miguel you crossed over the road and there’s a little vending machine and coffee machine. There doesn’t seem to be much else open, especially on a Sunday so this was a nice pick me up.

While many people like their final stage into Santiago to be shorter, it was worth the 24 km last day to stay at Quinta das Maceiras which is just off the Camino. Set in an apple orchard, it is quiet, beautifully decorated, and sports a pool if you are so inclined (I was not). For a reasonable cost, they can make wonderful dinners if you order ahead. If you don’t order ahead, they can still make a great tortilla, with salad and dessert. And there is wine and beer to be bought to celebrate finishing the penultimate stage of the Camino. Breakfast was divine as well. I highly recommend.

San Miguel de Castro is surprisingly well-supplied for pilgrims: just 100m after you cross the main road you'll see a little row of vending machines (coffee, beer, soft drinks and snacks). Consider nurturing that thirst, however, because about 400m farther on you'll spot FINCA ANDURINAS (through a gateway just up a lane on the right). In May 2024 a super-welcoming Galician woman called Pilar opened what might be the most idyllic donativo that you'll find anywhere in Spain. Be sure not to miss this lovingly restored old building with its spacious gardens. (The homemade lemonade will put wings on your heels!)
