Camino del Norte App

Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino del Norte app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Lovely Aretea Errota

Perfect little suburb town for a rest, with frequent Bilbao trains if you want to visit the city from here. We arrived on a Sunday evening August 9th, so the many pubs/ restaurants were closed. But our warm kind hotel host welcomed us with the suggestion of eating our picnic dinner on the terrace. Although the check in system is the high tec cumbersome codes, etc…,,this was more than redressed by the host appearing shortly after we settled into our comfortable clean double room with bathroom ( so soothing having first bath for tired limbs and feet). One hundred euro without breakfast was good value for us, because of the comfort and safety, coffee machine in bedroom and a good nights rest. On the camino route and a 5km walk into heart of Bilbao. Highlight was the host giving us a tour of the hotel building part which was originally a flour mill. She also gave us lots of ideas for Bilbao, and confirmed that they have many Camino walkers, which we saw for ourselves, with possibly half of the 15 guests being dusty rucsac carriers like us. 🙂🥾🥾

Please avoid staying at Artea Errota

We did not have a good experience with Artea Errota hotel in Zamudio in August 2024. Despite good reviews on booking.com, we left the hotel shortly after our arrival for safety reasons and found a different accomodation in Bilbao.
