Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino del Norte app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.
Get the appFonfria -- Cold Fountain -- takes its name from the spring that feeds the village fountain and that attracted the construction of a pilgrim hospital here in the late Middle Ages. The water is still cold and still good. From time to time one of the villagers opens her kitchen to invite passing pilgrims in for a coffee -- the kind of spontaneous hospitality that defines the Primitivo.
Standing directly between Fonfría and Barbeitos is a small hill. The road goes around it to the north and the camino goes around it to the south. The two meet in Barbeitos.

A wonderful little spring which even on a hot day runs very cold. Worth a stop to wet your handkerchief and refill water.
The source is to your right as you come down from the road, quite low to the ground and it is tucked back almost to the hedge. Someone has helpfully made a sign, and written « Fonte » in red on a piece of slate, but even this is easily missed if you are looking towards the building to the left.
