Scenic view of São Caetano on the Camino Portugués

Camino Portugués App

Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino Portugués app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Not much of a town at all — a small park and an excellent albergue, but little else. The albergue is on the right, opposite the school building. A practical stop if the distances work.

Public toilettes and water still available in the picknick area.

A friendly old man showed me the fresh water from the tap and public toilettes at the picknik area. Speaking some Portugese helps to understand tips from the very friendly locals 🥰

Great stay…right on the Camino

Lovely family of 4 hosting this Albergue. Cerveja upon arrival; swimming pool; 2 friendly dogs; clean and well appointed. No local restaurants, so either bring along or take the room and dinner / breakfast option for 45€ total. Great place to relax until your next leg. Highly recommended!

Public toilet

Happy to report it is still there and still well maintained, it is pretty easy to find in close to the middle of town. If you use what3words (app/website) you can find here:

Also benches and picnic tables.

Some services

There are some services here, their is a public toilet, very clean and well maintained. A little well shaded park and drinking fountain. So if you have stocked up on supplies at the previous town this is a good spot for a picnic.

Albergue

The albergue was amazing. The facility’s were great with a lovely back garden area and patio where we could relax. They also had a pink pong table that was great fun. The family was lovely and we had dinner with them. The family also has 3 very friendly dogs that are lovely . There is not much else in this town but the small shack opposite the alburgue and beside the small museum does sell beer and cold soft drinks and it was lovely to sit out there in evening and attempt to talk to the other locals. Would definitely recommend staying in this delightful albergue. We had a private room, dinner, breakfast and great hospitality for €35 each.
