The sign at the entrance makes the town seem smaller than it is. Pass through the narrow streets and turn left at the main road into the rest of town.
The sign indicating the entrance of Pedra Furada would have you believe that the town is much smaller that it is. Pass through the narrow streets and at the main road turn left into the rest of town. After turning left, keep on the road.

Didn’t make Barcelos as planned. But Albergue O Palhuco was worth it. Clean and host Francesca was nice and helpful. Ate at Cafe Restaurante Portela. Best meal my body needed. So happy I stayed.

Clean, modern and well-equipped. Affordable, but bring your own breakfast foods. On Camino in Feb. 2026, during the deluge of Portugal, and the washing machine, drier and hair dryer really added to our comfort. The staff (Maria and Anna) we friendly and helpful. This place is a true refuge on the way.

Excellent restaurant. The a la carte section used to be in the Michelin guide. The pilgrims’ menu at €10 is a bargain and great.

Not a super exciting town, but they were friendly at the restaurant and pharmacy - lady at pharmacy gave me a free Camino scallop shell when I bought some supplies :)

I can very highly recommend both these places. Casa do Maria was sqeaky clean, we loved the swimming pool and tbe fruit trees in the garden. And our morning view from our balcony was brilliant. Antonio's restaurant: wow, wow, wow! I had a pilgrim's meal with soup, roast pork, roast potatoes, rice and salad and my daughter had the sirloin steak. Both meals were excellently done. The pilvfim's meal was €10.

We arrived on November 16, 2024, and walked down to this restaurant. We were early for supper, so we ordered a glass of local Portugal white wine. We asked about the peregrino menu. Fabulous serving of meat, potatoes, salad, lettuce, tomatoes, and rice, plus a wonder soup. I am Gluten-Free so declined the bread.. We were full.
The ambiance is lovely. The chef is fantastic..
Go in through the front doors as the side door is the fine dining restaurant and prices are $$-$$$.
Our dinner was €9.50 plus 1.70 for a glass of wine. A great dinner.

Stopped yesterday for a late lunch. His pilgrim menu included veal, rice, potatoes, lettuce tomato garnish, bread, and soup. Wow! Wonderful! With a bottle of water was only 9 euro.
Antonio is pictured in the Brierley Camino guide, and was very gracious. I showed him my guide and the picture and did a selfie with him.
He said he served lunch to John Brierley a month before he passed away (last year). It was clear Antonio and Brierley were friends.

New albergue from 2022. Two rooms with 12 beds each. The kitchen is equipped with pots, a frying pan, cutlery, cups, a lid, a microwave. Clean bathrooms. Washer and dryer (free laundry and detergent).
4. October 2023 - 10:53
The prices as of the start of October were more than said on here. I booked a room for one at 40€, it was the smallest room but had its own ensuite. The bigger rooms for the same price had a shared bathroom.
The quarto rooms were also nice with a bathroom for each.
For 50€ you had the largest room and balcony with ensuite. All very clean. A shared lounge with a large flatscreen, shared kitchen with tea, coffee and biscuits. A pool, laundry for 2€ and a short walk to a restaurant, the first was closed but the one next to the service station was open and busy.
6. June 2023 - 1:56
Casa da Maria has access to an apple orchard and a swimming pool. The food at the restaurant Pedra furada was good, the pilgrim's menu was 9 euros.
