Vía de la Plata app

Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Vía de la Plata app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Best Place in Almaden

This is a very nice, but dated albergue. The owner recommended a restaurant, but then told us that he would never eat there. Luckily, it didn’t open until 9 PM, so we found a nice place near the church to eat.

A few cautions: there was no warm water. It was the coldest shower I’ve had. Second, there is no fan or other way to move air. After the ascent of Calvary, all I wanted to do was take a nap, but the room was sweltering.

Nice Place

The hopitalero is friendly. The albergue is clean, has a kitchen, hot showers, place to was and hang clothes, and is well-situated. The town bar was open early (6:00 or 6:30) for coffee and light breakfast.

Temporarily closed

Closed on 19 April 2022; we met the host and she told us that it’s temporarily closed (doesn’t know for how long).j

This really is the absolute

This really is the absolute best hostel on the Via de la Plata. It is very clean, beautiful, the beds are great and the hostess is very friendly and helps with everything!
I received a beer when I arrived to refresh my electrolytes!
5 stars for this accommodation and this hostess!

8/8/2018

Beautiful small albergue. 9 beds. Only 2 are setup as bunk beds the rest are singles without anyone above! Luxury. The bathroom is a little basic but clean and adequate. Hosts are great and I was even received with a glass of beer. Again worth noting the 2nd week of September is fiesta time and the town parties all night, but unlike Guillena, both Castilblanco and Almeden have kept their albergues open.
