Nice but over rated?

Modern albergue, and it's cool to be up at the top of the mountain, but there is no view from the balconies. Be aware that the tram doesn't start until 9:00 am. Laundry for €2 was nice. Really good breakfast.

Fabulous!

A wonderful place. Take the funicular to get there. Decent kitchen. Great facilities. Wonderful views. No local shops so take supplies.

Magnificent

The Albergue was great. Clean, rooms with a balcony and phenomenal views. At the time didn’t seem at all a party place. Quite quiet and we are old. Bring food so you can relax and we joy the atmosphere on top of the world. Great breakfast too. Highly recommended. ☮️❤️

Nice albergue :)

I was here July 2024. The albergue seems modern and clean. The girl who worked at the reception seemed very nice and helpful :)

Keep in mind the albergue is located at the top of the city. If the funicular doesn't work your options are taxi or 700 steps. So check if the funicular is operating and its working hours.

If the weather is nice, it is absolutely beautiful up there and you have a lovely view of the city, with a beautiful Sanctuary (Sagrado Coracao de Jesus)

Youth hostel, under 25’s type of place

Clean with towel and bedding provided. Very noisy till late at night, people queuing to wash dry clothes, shouting and walking up and down corridor, lights going on/off till late.

Sleeping

Very loud with partying late into the night. Don’t expect to get a good night sleep!

One of a kind location

One of the most incredible location. If you are tired take the funicular. 2 Euros. Well worth it. Very modern and clean. Has washer and dryer. A lot of showers and toilets. Limited option for groceries. Make sure you have dinner covered.

Kindly recomended

It’ worth the stairs or the 2€ for the elevator. Very clean, very modern. You make the reservation on their web site, choose your room and you receive a code to enter. No recepcion. But reminde that the restaurant is open only until 17.30 so or you eat in town or you bring food - kitchen is well equiped. You can also order food from Glovo and others.

Beautiful views!! May 2023

There is a 'sting in the tail' to get up all the stairs but if you are able...do it!!! Views are beautiful & dorms & bathrooms are comfortable & clean. Just a reminder - the restaurant closes at about 17:30 and if you dont bring food with you, you could go to sleep hungry. There is a kitchen & vending machine ;-).

It's a long walk up hundreds of stairs

Just a warning in case you don't realise where this albergue actually is. There are hundreds of steep stairs to climb which is tough after a long day's walk. From June there's a fernicular (elevator) available but until then it's a long way up. I was surprised by that yesterday and it nearly did me in.

The views are exceptional and the church is lovely which was a silver lining of my most challenging day yet. I was the only one in my room too which was great!
Also, there's no food available up there so be prepared for that.
Enjoy!!

Very modern and clean

Super modern, clean albergue that’s worth the €15 price tag. You get a towel too. The views across the city and Bay Area from up where the albergue is based are amazing.

Note that it is up a steep hill, which is an extra 30/40 minutes walking from the town. If you’re tired you might want to grab a taxi.

Great self-service albergue

When reserving online you receive instructions on how to enter. Inside there’s several rooms with 6-8 beds, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry+dryer (you need 2x 1 eu coins for each) and even a stamp so you can add it to your pilgrim passport! We were here practically alone! Scenery around it is beautiful too (bit of a climb but worth it!) Beds are great and towels provided. Well spent 15 eu!
