Camino Portugués app

Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino Portugués app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Great stay

It was my first ever albergue to stay. It’s basic, very clean and welcoming. A real pilgrimage experience. Carlos was very friendly and welcomed us all in our native languages-recommenced.

Lovely Stay

Carlos was such a kind host, this was the first time I felt properly on the Camino, great atmosphere and kind people.

Simple but effective; great value

This is a simple Municipal Albergue, but has all the basics covered for only €10…clean bed; place to do laundry; proximity to grocery and restaurants. Duarte was super helpful acquainting us to the facility, was very welcoming and responsive, and answered all of our questions. Highly recommended!

Great Experience

George and two young girls he was training served me and the other pilgrams who stayed. He shared stories of his travels and his time on the Camino. He was so helpful and kind!

Great!

Merci, merci, merci.

Stayed here and highly recommend

2022 September, stayed for a night with comfort. There are a couple of restaurants in that town.

Excellent Albergue

My first pilgrim Albergue experience. No reservations.. pilgrims taken in order arrived. Sold out before end of day with all bunks filled. I got there around 4pm. Laundry wash station in backyard but limited cloths lines with little sun there to help with drying, so had some damp clothes come morning. Recommend early arrival if getting clothes washed and dried is a necessity. Awesome pilgrim hostel and highly recommend.

Perfect for a night for pilgrims

Very good hospitality. A small kitchen with microwave and any kind of accessories you might need.
Big garden to wash and dry your clothes. I think this place is perfect for pilgrims for a night.

Lovely welcoming albergue

Such a lovely clean and welcoming albergue. Great to meet up with other pilgrims.

Overflow available

The Albergue was full however the wonderful volunteer Carlos provided room for us in the local childcare centre. We had thick mattresses on the floor with blankets and cushions if needed. There was a shower, toilet and small kitchen also available.
The town was starting to set up fences for the running of the bulls later in May.
Great Albergue facilities close to the Camino path.
Thank you from Wendy, Monique and Bianca from Australia

Loved it!

Everything you need and fantastic volunteer hosts. Paper sheet and pillow slip provided and mattresses in good condition. I slept well, was able to prepare breakfast, showers good and line dry clothes in nice courtyard

Don’t listen to Gronze!!

This albergue is indeed open and it is by far the friendliest albergue ever! Beds are firm and super comfortable, provide blankets and pillows if you ask for them and a clothesline in direct sunlight! What more do you want/need?

Hostel is open

The hostel is run by Volunteers and it is very clean and homely. We were received by Carlos who was so warm and willing to share his experiences with us. They only open at 3pm but we were able to get in slightly earlier as he was already there.

Home away from home

We arrived in Azumbuja not intending to stay but realized we were there during the Feire de Maio, a 5 day bull-running festival. We stayed in this hostel and met our host Carlos who was kind and generous with his time. He facilitated a welcome gathering with all the pilgrims who had arrived and helped to understand what was about to happen in the town for the festival. He was concerned for our safety but ensured that we had a great first time experience watching the bulls and the fence jumping participants from a safe distance! Carlos created a community within minutes of arrival and greeted each nationality with at least a welcome in their own language! Basic dormitory style room with wash basin and line in a nice private courtyard.

Great pilgrim hostel

We stayed in May 2022 and loved the hostel. Clean and comfortable. We could leave our packs before it opened (3pm) and come back after a long lunch. Lovely friendly volunteers. A very basic kitchen (just a fridge and a microwave and an old kettle) but lovely clean showers and toilets. Bunk beds in one very large room so it felt nice. Outdoor sink to wash clothes.
Recommend booking.
