Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino Francés app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Not bad

There is not much, the WC is kinda working, there is mold in the showers, and the main door is made of glass so people can watch you from the outside.
But otherwise its fine, there is also a microwave and they provide blankets.

Gets the award

Without doubt the most dodgy and dirty and mouldy albergue on the Camino. It is donativo but that should not equate to something this mediocre.. there are better options in Samos worth considering.

Meets the minimum requirements

It's certainly not new or well-equipped, but it has everything a pilgrim needs: a bed, a shower, and a sink for washing. I wouldn't recommend it for tourists, but it's fine for true pilgrims.

Clean and NO BED BUGS

I don’t know why and who spread this false information but this place DOES NOT HAVE bed bugs.
It’s very clean and the host is very kind. If you want to look and check the place before 13, he will let you enter without any problem.
Please go there if you want to really live the traditional places of the Camino.

Awful

It was impossible for me to stay here.
The dormroom is dark, cold, moisty. No bed sheets, some olds beds, with dirty pillows…
The bathroom is full of molds …
I just could not stay there, and went to the albergue in front évent if i had already paid …

COLD!!!!!

I passed this donativo in the past and always thought that it would be fun, adventurous, and quirky to stay at the monastery. I have been told by other pilgrims that all the church sanctioned albergues have been wonderful. Well this one was awful!!! Dark, moist, smelly, old and COLD. It feels like you are sleeping in an old wine cellar. I could not get warm at all even with 4 blankets. This was my worst night ever on Camino. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Could not stay here

I arrived here October 2023. The monk who checked us in was most unhelpful. The albergue was filthy. Some of the bunks had sheets on which were dirty. They had blood on them ? bed bugs. It was cold however the blankets provided were dirty. There were rat catchers on the floor. I paid my donation on checking in and decided to leave after one hour. Best decision.

Basic

Very basic albergue, no kitchen no washimg machines. And you are not inside the monasterio. I suggest stay in other albergues and do the monasterio tour instead

Sad state .

Old is fine , not clean and smells is not ok . The showers were mouldy and old bottle and rubbish in the stall . The beds have no sheets supplied and needed a good wipe down . Pilgrims plaster bandages stuck on the bunk , blankets old and smelly. As Pilgrims we try to support the donation Albergues, donating what we would for a private Albergue, but this was not a good experience. Place needs a good clean and TLC .

Open but sooo run down. Don't stay the night.

The donativo albergue is very run down. First time during the whole Camino that I'm slightly disgusted by the place. Has a microwave. No bed covers. Beds are a mix of plastic covered ones and plain polyester mattresses. No clothes line outside. Showers are clean but the whole place looks like a half-abandoned hospital. The town has little in terms of choice so I would skip the town if I could.

Closing for winter 2022

This listing currently says open all year however I’m staying tonight and have been told they close for winter tomorrow (2 Nov). Suggest checking their website for reopening date.

Monasterio albergue open Aug 2021

This is a traditional, clean, simple donativo albergue with a one-room large dormitory, that has wonderful medieval-style paintings all over the walls and ceiling. There is a microwave for pilgrims to use and a large table and benches, if you want to buy your own food (in the nearby supermarket) and eat with your fellow pilgrims, in the traditional and socially-bonding way of the Camino.
It is an old building so prone to being cold (a boon on the hot August day and night I was there) but the albergue also provides blankets for those who want them.
No evidence of bed bugs when I was there and all mattresses and pillows have the thick rubber/plastic blue covers that keep bedbugs at bay. I would definitely stay here again. (Monastery tours at 10.30, 11.30, 12.30, 16.30 & 17.30 on weekdays and 12.30 on Sundays. Tour costs 5€ and last about 45 mins. Beautiful to see the inside of the monastery and cloister).
