Great owner. Very helpful.

Place was unique, hostelier was kind and helpful. I arrived injured, he made sure everything was done for me, ice packs, dinner early, carried my bags, amd then drove me to next town in the morning, not requested, he offered! most of the conversation was via translate app, but he tried his best to communicate. Room was two single beds. Free tea and coffee provided. Very grateful for his care and kindness.
True camino spirit.

Nice experience. Cosy house and friendly host.

Loved to stay there. The host is kind, just you have to know better. The food he prepared for us was healthy and delicious, there is a beautiful view from the window. Everything was clean and familiar, like at home. Before we went out in the morning, he gave us a camino blessing. Recommended.

Filthy with rude owner

Shower was disgustingly dirty. Broken and moldy tile. Piece of wood and blocks holding other bathroom sink. No screens upstairs and no air. Owner got very angry when I showed him the rate is 15 EU and not the 20 he wanted. Wanted 5 Eu for toast and coffee. Greeting area was creepy and unkept. Yuck!! We

Only if you're desperate

I'll start with its only redeeming feature - there are no bunk beds and only 2x people per room in single beds.
The whole house was freezing, no heating and not very clean. I was laughed at when i asked if there was heating available for the bedroom.
The bathrooms i would go as far as saying are filthy - looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months.
€15 dinner was basic and not worth the money at all.
€5 for washing machine and additional €5 for the dryer - neither of which you can use yourself.
The hospiterlero spoke limited English, which is completely fine, just without the aggressive Spanish diatribe, along with it.

He isn't rude, just terse!

Pedro was very kind to me, altho I heard him shouting at others! The place is serviceable, only 2 beds 🛌 per room & no bunks! It was freezing cold, but the dinner was substantial and lots of it, soon warmed us up! It was an experience I'm glad to have had, late comers turned up, he soon found a place for them. Keep walking if you expect luxury and be prepared to stand your ground, he doesn't suffer fools at all.

What a rude owner

Kicked us out because
we want to see our privat room before. We leave with open door behind.
Surprised that this Albergue could run.

Good hearty dinner

Great stay. Rooms are comfortable and filled with art painted by the owner. Dinner was good and hearty and accompanied by lovely music. Enjoy!

Fantastic place to stay

We had a great night here - the rooms were clean and with coffee/tea in your room.
The evening meal was amazing- best yet!

Not my best choice

I had my pack sent forward to this albergue because of injury so when I arrived I felt obligated ( my choice) to stay here. The shower was dirty and the whole place made me cringe. I was rudely told no dinner because I was the only one there, happy to eat elsewhere. This has been the worst place I’ve stayed at and if you’re desperate by all means but if you can keep going, do.

23. August 2024 - 19:57

Random stamp

Who on earth arrives at a random albergue expecting a stamp?
That's not what stamps are about.
Then, to criticise the owner...very silly.

19. July 2024 - 18:34

Nice place

Great host, nice showers and washing space, plenty of room and pins outside to dry clothes, spacious rooms w only two beds and everything to make coffee or tea in room, pillowcase and sheet provided, toothpaste, body wash, and laundry soap all available, bar down the street open all day, checkout at 7

Rude as hell!

I was on my way to Santo Domingo de la Calzada, and stopped at this albergue to have my passport stamped.

The owners dog got excited and started barking at me, this was not a problem whatsoever. He then came out from the hostel yelling at the dog.

I asked him if it’s possible to stamp my passport, he said you get room tonight?
And I said no, I’m sleeping elsewhere tonight.
He then told me no room no stamp, go to cafeteria!

To be honest, I was a little taken by his comment, he’s the first rude owner I’ve come across on my Camino.

The host did not appear

We had booked a room through WhatsApp around noon. We did a long walk that day, so our arrival was at 20:30. At our arrival we see no people around. We walk upstairs to take a look and wonder around the yard a bit. But no one is there. Eventually we found other guest, but still not the owner. After contacting him and waiting around for a while. We have to contact other places in order to find a bed. We had already walked 45km that day, and had to walk another 5 km, to the next town for a bed.

All in all our day was good and the albergue we ended at was very nice, but we would not recommended this place for others

I would stay again...

A slightly gruff but very kind host, but I deserved it for not learning more spanish. I shared a very comfortable double room. And slept nearly 10 hours. Room was clean and sheets etc were the same. DInner smelt fantastic, wish I had been well enough to sit with everyone. Sounded great fun. I would stay again, no problem.

20. April 2024 - 11:55

Comfortable

A comfortable bed, a wonderful dinner (delicious and lots of it!) and breakfast- with the best cup of coffee I’ve had on the Camino.

25. October 2023 - 12:49

Great memories

Rooms with single beds instead of bunks! He leaves a kettle and tea in the room for morning tea. He cooks a really nice, yet simple dinner which we all very much enjoyed! His places has a lot of artistic touches which I liked. Yes, the host is very direct, but not rude in my opinion. We had a very nice conversation with him over dinner. I had an easier time understanding his Spanish because he is direct and to the point.

Keep walking stayed here Sept 16

I’ve completed the Camino and must say this was the worse experience of the walk. The place was filthy and the food was disgusting I only ate it because I was hungry Do not stay here KEEP GOING

Reservations not honoured

I called and made a reservation and kept the owner updated as to my progress and eta. When I arrived the Albergue was full. 3 others were also turned away - with reservations.
The owner was also yelling loudly at a dog.

4. May 2023 - 7:02

Overbooked!

When I arrived at 2 pm with a reservation, I was informed it was full and I would have to keep going (I had already walked 27 km). In the time I was there, he turned away 3 others with reservations. The owner was quite abrupt and unapologetic. I would not recommend this place.

3. May 2023 - 15:27

Did not honour our reservation

We had called in the afternoon and when I rang to confirm before 4 pm he told me it was full. I had expressed that we were waking 9.5km with my 73 year old mother due to a problem in azufre. Not good business management. We were not the only ones left with no place to stay.
