Donativo with lovely hospitaleros❤️

They always make room for people, which is a great plus as in many towns we had more pelegrinos than Albergue beds.

Dorms differ in size, I’ve seen 2persons and 5person dorms.

We were welcomed with fruits and cold drinks.
Communal place to sit, breakfast in the morning.

Albergue by a pilgrim

She said she was a pilgrim and somehow a lot of love was in there. However, the bedrooms are very crowded and mixed and noisy. The first albergue even I wasn‘t able to sleep in. But it‘s donative and everything else was ok.

The male host was super friendly and tries his best to translate nothing but good vibes hear great atmosphere .

PLEASE PLEASE AVOID CONVENT DE CARMEN

I was sexually assaulted here. I immediately told the female volunteer who checked us all in as soon as it happened-Maya (or Maia?) She scoffed at me, stormed off & threw back at me €10 of the €13 donativo, I was in shock and left. This all happened within 30 minutes of arrival. I have contacted the Albergue 4 times since this happened last week and they just ignore me. I reported to police. Just know that if you stay here and anything bad happens, they do not care at ALL. So disappointing. Shameful despicable behaviour. Jacky

Not happy

Nice place, not nice host.

Nice allergue with a lot of room

This albergue is located at the back of a village church. Be aware that it is located at the back of the village, so after the steep descent there is still quite a walk. We arrived when it opened and the attendant kept providing beds for the people who showed up. The last to arrive had to sleep on a mattress in the hallway. A breakfast of toast with jam and coffee is provided and the rooms consist of single beds with divider-screens and lockers. There also were bamboo canes which came in handy the next day. A restaurant in town offers dinner for 15 eu. It was possible to get some food from the local supermarket (I was there on a Friday) and the village was very lively in the evening.

Very organized

We stayed at the Covento Padres Carmelita’s. The hospitaleros were very struck, but had to be to
Keep things running smoothly with all the pilgrims. We were recommended a restaurant with a pilgrim meal that was close by and delicious.

Iconic Camino

Bless the hospitaleros we had mid May! They made room for everyone who came to the door and we were MANY the night I was there. They were extra kind to me as I arrived in tears. Honestly, I'm guessing they're used to at least one pilgrim crying upon arrival per day with how hard the stage is!

Very Friendly hosts, great place

Lovely reception by the hosts.
No kitchen but there is a kettle and fridge and an area with tables and chairs.
Everyone has a locker for your rucksack this includes a power point. Make sure you have €1 for the locker which is returned. Don’t take rucksacks into the room.
Local restaurant Vega provides a good pilgrim meal, its bar opens early which is a good thing because be prepared to be woken up about 6:15 with loud music at the Albergue.

Donativo Del Carmen Markina

This place is very well run.
Clean and comfortable.
I was very impressed.

Big grocery store nearby and you are welcome to use the donativo’s refrigerator.

Breakfast is also offered by donation.

24. September 2023 - 16:59

Very popular albergue

The donation box is by the register table, feel like it’s expected to put donation while check in rather than later. 10 e is fair (they also provide tea, hot coco, and bread and jam in the morning) . But it’s understandable seem like after Covid many albergue are having difficulties to stay open also sounded like recently more pilgrims are not paying. This albergue is a popular one and it has big supermaket next to it, so best is to arrive before 4.

Albergue de Peregrinos Convento

Hospitalero is a bit rough but big hearted. Big handshake upon departure. We paid €10 each, someone attempted to pay €20 and was rejected as too much. Common area to eat, no kitchen but refrigerator. Coffee, toast, butter, jam was provided in the morning at no additional charge. Nice stay v

Albergue de Peregrinos Convento

Clean, community room for eating. No kitchen. Donation, we left €10 each. Someone offered €20 and was not accepted as too much. Nice location, places to eat near by as well as grocery store. Blankets but no sheets, just pillow cases. Rec’d.

! Watch out the have bed bugs here!!!!

I have been here at 1-4-2023.
The place to sleep has no windows and no fresh air. There where bed bugs, watch out!!!!!!
The hoste was not frendly.

12. August 2022 - 9:12

Waiting time

They don't have a number system and are first come first serve, so many people had to wait until 3pm in front of the albergue when they arrived. But it was full and later they turned people away.

14. June 2022 - 21:46

Good option

The albergue has a nice vibe of the "convent" with the corridoors and the yard.
The donation is not anonymous - you are asked to put money at the registration and the host is a bit pushy.

Nice breakfast, some kitchen facilities like a microwave and water cattle.
Decent option!

JUNE 2022

Nice hospitalerios, the place is cool, with decent showers, a washing machine, nice courtyard with loads of washing lines, coffee, toast & marmalade in the morning. There are secure lockers, which have a power point inside, so phone charging not an issue, a nice hilled place, after a really hard walk.

18. May 2022 - 16:22

Not the cleanest

Thankful the place was open (May 2022). Very tight accommodations, received a stink eye for our donativo, and one of the mattresses had mold on the underside. Only one power outlet in a room with six beds. Options are unfortunately few in this stretch. Would have considered pushing on but it was a very hot day.
