The albergue is a former boarding school that was re-purposed in 2009. As such it is quite large with lots of facilities: 150 beds, 24 showers, 12 toilets. There is also a game room with table tennis and Foosball, a backyard and garden, a garage for bicycles, a theater and a library.

Viejo Lucas est viejo, et aurait besoin qu'on rénove ce batiment ancien et immense. Raul et les personnes qui nous accueillent ont d’autant plus de mérite pour avoir rendu cet endroit chaleureux et confortable. Ma meilleure nuit depuis Portugalete ! Sans doute grâce au lit confortable et à la couette, quelle bonne idée même si c'est un peu sportif pour l'"habiller". Et quel bonheur de se détendre au soleil dans un hamac👌

Rual, the owner, was very helpful and caring. The building maybe historic, but the facilities are well kept and very clean. Bedding was clean and comfortable.
I'd recommend this place to stay. Bar next door.

Very nice staff and the facility is adequate, however there was no one to enforce quiet hours, the school children ran and screamed until midnight and then the young people had a lively and loud get together until 2 am. Couple that with snoring of the pilgrims and it was difficult to sleep!

Huge place with 150 beds which was full when I was there. A large group of kids in residents as well as pilgrims. A variety of rooms on offer. We had a double. Amazing. Good shower facilities. Laundry. Washing line. Amazing bar directly over the road. Right on the trail.

Die kleine Herberge ist Teil einer größeren Jugendherberge, wo auch Schulklassen und Kindergruppen Urlaub machen. Für Pilger gibt es einen extra Schlafraum mit 16 Betten. Der Raum ist frisch renoviert und mit allem eingerichtet, was man braucht. Es gibt Wasserkocher, Tee, Kaffee. Sofa zum chillen. Es gibt an jedem Bett eine kleine Lampe und Steckdosen. Die Bettwäsche ist neu, es gibt zwei Decken und ein Kissen. Nachts könnte es kalt werden in dem Raum, aber durch die warmen Decken friert man gar nicht! Zur Not gibt es einen Heizlüfter. Pilger können auch gegen Aufpreis ein Einzel-Zweierzimmer bekommen. Toilette ist sauber, Duschen haben einen Vorraum mit Hocker und Haken, so dass die Kleidung trocken bleibt.
Frühstück ist sehr gut! Toast, Obst, Cornflakes, Kaffee, Tee, O-saft, Kuchen. Das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit und geduldig. Wirklich ein sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt!

Stayed here because the albergue in Comillas was full - the hospitalero + staff were very friendly, pilgrim breakfast included. Laundry lines + wash basin for clothes, electric tea kettle + tea selection available, also right across from a bar. Habitación was right outside the dining hall which was a bit loud with kids there, but it was plenty quiet overnight. Nice bunk beds, was given sheets. I was the only pilgrim there, but it was a cool experience

Stayed at the old boarding school. Received a warm welcome. Raul and his team are wonderful people. Nice shower, comfortable beds, linen and basic breakfast included. They had oat milk :) deffo recommend.

Note on the door says "closed for personal reasons". I think. It looks permanent
The other albergue was also closed so I walked to Comillas, the Inland route was nice and quite flat.

Very nice, very fine albergue. Super service and friendly. Clean, good breakfast. And I like the Spaces in this albergue. We recommend this place.

Stayed here Aug 2020, a great place. €14 including breakfast. Dorm is clean, spacious and has tea/ coffee facilities, one of the nicest dorms so far. Bed sheets provided. Lots of showers which were strong and hot. Bar next door is good value and food for dinner was tasty. Raoul was really helpful and friendly. Highly recommended
