Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Vía de la Plata app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.
Get the appRequejo sits in a valley between oak forests on the approach to the mountain pass. It has restaurants along the road and has served as a base for AVE high-speed rail construction crews, which has kept things livelier than they would otherwise be. There's food and accommodation available.
A new river route from Requejo to Padornelo has been established since the AVE construction was completed, offering a more pleasant alternative to the N-525. Check locally for current waymarks.

The original AVE detours that forced pilgrims onto the busy N-525 should no longer be necessary, but keep an eye out for any remaining construction activity.
It is uphill from here to the Portela de la Canda. From Requejo the camino follows a narrow country road adjacent to the river. A new river route now offers an alternative to the N-525 -- check locally for current waymarks.
At the entrance to Padornelo you can either turn left to walk through the lower part of town or you can keep on the road (the camino returns to it).

Definitely worth eating at Tu Casa. Delicious food. Menu del Dia (available for dinner at 8pm as well) is €10 at the time of writing.

Tu Casa is worth the 1/2 kilometer walk for dinner. Great menu, great price (9 euro, May 2022), and great food. I would go again.
