Vía de la Plata App

Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Vía de la Plata app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Warm and open

The older Reviews tell you it's closed, but for me in 2026 it's open.
Amazing building. No bunk beds, real sheet covers, pillows and blankets. You can have an amazing dinner menu here. There was no breakfast available for me though, you'll have to walk 2 km to the next cafe, where the breakfast is amazing.

A Rustic Gem on the Camino

Albergue Mercadoiro has rooms that feel like a warm hug from history, with thick stone walls and old wooden beams that make the space feel incredibly authentic. It’s spotless and cozy, but the real magic is looking out the window or sitting in the garden and seeing the rolling green hills of Galicia stretching out in front of you.
It’s also a perfect spot to drop your pack and enjoy a great lunch. It’s a peaceful little sanctuary that reminds you why you started this walk in the first place.

Difficulty booking

I really wanted to stay here but it didn't happen! I tried emailing twice, using 2 different email addresses, several days in advance of my hoped-for visit. But no reply to either.

Then I tried phoning twice and each time got a voice message saying the phone number was not available and to call back later. I tried WhatsApp too. In the end I wondered whether they had closed for the season.

On visiting the property today, while on my Camino, it was very busy (open). Unfortunately there were no rooms available 😭

Unreal 'brunch' spot

A real upper class cafe, opens 10am. Albergue not open yet for season 5/04/24 but this is the nicest cafe and restaurant I've seen. Offers pilgrim brunch, but a huge range of other options too. Albergue looks really nice

We were lucky to have a two bed room with a view of the garden. Everything in their albergue is in top shape. Clean and new. Dinner was good. Will stay here in my next Camino
