Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Vía de la Plata app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.
Get the appCampobecerros sits in a valley at the bottom of the mountain descent from La Gudina. The village grew thanks to the construction of the Zamora-Ourense railway line, and before the railway was built, the local economy revolved around charcoal production -- the inhabitants were carboeiros, burning peat for fuel.
There are bars and basic services here, making it a natural stopping point in the middle of the La Gudina to Laza stretch. After the long, exposed mountain walk from the vendas, a coffee and a bocadillo hit differently.
The valley setting is pleasant and the village has a few stone houses worth admiring if you're taking a break.
The camino follows the road to Porto Camba (3.3 km) and then picks up a trail to the hamlet of As Eiras.

We did our first day on the Camino from A Gudina to Campobecerros. We changed our plans and cancelled Casa Nuñez in Campobecerros. A pilgrim we met said there was a bedbug infestation there. We taxied back to A Gudina for another night at Bruma II which was fine. Then another taxi to begin again where we left off for Laza.
