Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino Francés app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Ambasmestas — 'where both waters meet' — sits at the confluence of two streams in the Valcarce valley. The name is self-explanatory once you arrive. A bar and a basic albergue serve the village. The valley is narrow here and the road runs close to the river.
From here the approach to Vega de Valcarce begins, and the final climb to O Cebreiro is not far ahead.

Knut has created a lovely oasis for weary pilgrims. Inviting, airy spaces, lively music, amazing homemade meals. The River in the back was cool and refreshing. I cannot recommend it enough.

This place is so welcoming. I had the most delicious vegetarian dinner here, and the owner and Aileen are both so lovely and welcoming. A lot of effort and thought has gone into providing everything a tired hiker might need at the end of the day. It’s such a beautiful place, and it’s my favourite so far.

Stopped to have lunch on our way to Las Herrerias. Best meal my wife and I have had on the Camino. Had vegetarian pasta and chicken with potatoes. For desert brownies. All home made. Also had access to the river from the property to dip our feet into the cold river water for some recovery.

An oasis of space to feed the soul. Gorgeous indoor snd outdoor space i took a dip in the river and felt so refreshed. Mme breakfast is delicious with home-made Clementine and fig jam and an omelette made with love. Dinners are mostly vegetarian and the bread is to die for. I stayed 2 nights and less than 10 stayed each night tho they have capacity for 20 which woukd be a squeeze with just 1 toilet and shower for each gender. The cat and the music knut plays was a delight and I was lucky he had a meditation one night which was special.

Make sure you stay here, you’ll remember it for the rest of your life
It is so open and light filled. Many spaces to sit and relax and books to explore. The beds are comfy and well positioned with your own space
Knut cooks traditional food full of vegetables that taste divine. I felt like I was being nourished to sustain me for the rest of my journey
The meditation that is optional at night helped my body relax and heal, very special experience. Juliet the cat even joins in
Forever thankful we found this place and experienced the love and comfort

By far my favorite albergue of my entire camino so far. Magical place hosted by magical people — an oasis after a cold rainy day.
