Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino del Norte app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

San Miguel de Meruelo is where the alternative routes from Laredo converge with the official camino. Most services sit along the main road, including a bar and basic provisions. Signs for the Museo de la Campana (bell museum) are visible but misleading — the museum is actually in the next town over.
The camino passes through on a small country road at the upper edge of town, passing the church before descending into the valley.
If you need any of the shops in town, stay on the main road when you reach the town. All of the services are located at the start of town along this road, which you can follow to the end of town and resume the official camino.
San Mamés is celebrated on the 7th of August.
The camino passes through San Miguel on a small country road at the upper side of town. It passes the church before descending back to the CA-454 which it follows a short distance before turning left downhill at the end of town. From here it descends to the bottom of the valley, where the albergue is located, and then climbs back up to the road in Bareyo.

Got confused between apps and google maps and went south/west out of Meruelo instead of up to Bareyo. It’s all an N road with no walk path, so not the smartest but it is marginally shorter with less elevation. Ended up in Guemes from the south instead of the east, safe and sound

Nice private room, hot shower, space heater in the room. But expensive for a hostel on the Camino, €35 for one night, pizza was €15 and not very good. Didn’t seem like the owners were very happy I was there, they wouldn’t do coffee or breakfast in the morning either. Wish I had pushed on to Güemes.

La Milla Café is a reslly nice stop. There is also a cafe located just next to La Milla. When you inter the town you will find a supermarket.

Lovely rooms, good water pressure in the shower. Very friendly owners who were very helpful and spoke English. We actually had a nice dinner, the food was tasty and reasonably priced. We were very happy to stay here

The lady was speaking english and was very warm and nice. The rooms were also nice, but the meal that her son prepapred for us, was the saddest meal we have ever eaten.
