Services

The name tells the story: the original inhabitants came from the Bierzo region, and the village sits on the Camino Real — the 'Royal Road,' a designation that refers not to royalty but to a primary public road. It's a useful distinction for understanding meseta place names.

Bercianos has a bar, an albergue, and the Iglesia de El Salvador. The village is small and agricultural, its life rhythm dictated by the wheat harvest and the passage of pilgrims. A few kilometres of pleasant tree-lined path lead to El Burgo Ranero.

Love Albergue Santa Clara!

Based on prior reviews, we were nervous; however, it’s lovely!! We have a private double room with ensuite bath, and every thoughtful touch is here: working heater, towel warmer, soap/shampoo/bath gel and nice towels, cups and bottle opener… it’s lovely! Nice, shady, shared courtyard. Our hostess was busy but sweet. Highly recommend!

Watch the sunset from Parque La Iglesia

Amazing sunset views at Parque La Iglesia, looking out over a reedy pond full of birdsong.

Grab a coffee drink from the supermarket the night before

I stayed at Bercianos 1900, and the next morning there was nothing open in the entire town for coffee. It’s the end of the season, and I think there’s a an albergue cafe that’s just closed Thursday, but you might want to grab a coffee drink from the supermarket the night before just in case.

Bercianos 1900 was great & good food

Very kind people run this albergue. The rooms are nice with a shade and very nice freshly
washed cotton sheets. The food was delicious especially the pizza and salads! The courtyard is. A great place to hang out !m in an otherwise sleepy town.

Bar Restaurante El Suave

At the car end of town next to the Donativo. Peivate ooms with bathroom are clean and comfortable for €50.
Also does decent food downstairs - the mixed salad is good so you don't need to walk any further!
(From a weary traveller!)

Bercianos 1900 Best Lunch ever

The best lunch I have ever had during Camino! The pasta and the grilled fish, and the cheese cake, perfecto!

La Perala

Stopped here for breakfast—-Super clean, friendly, and welcoming space. Flowers outside were pretty and well taken care of.

Albergue La Perala

First thing you come to, just before the town. From the outside, it looks a bit like an industrial shed on its green lawn. But inside, it’s spotless and spacious, and efficiently run by a welcoming Indian manager/owner, who greeted me in English. Decent food served by young staff. I have a private room with bathroom. Everything you could want for a good rest!

Hotel Restaurante El Sueve

Nice, clean and comfortable private room with private bathroom. Room was nice and warm as well.
A husband and wife run the bar / restaurant downstairs and the rooms are a upstairs. There is a big open patio upstairs looking out over the town and surrounding fields. We would stay here again.

Bar El Sueve

Consiglio di non andare in questo bar. Gestore antipaticissimo. Mangiare scarso. No postres.

Favourite Albergue

This albergue has been my favourite so far- private beds with a curtain, great food for a good price (homemade chocolate cake!) and a vegan menu too! Would stay again in a heartbeat. Also, great music selection in the bar/chill area

Bar Santa Clara Open Early

We stayed at Santa Clara overnight and had a good stay. And the cafe was open at 6. Warm croissants and fresh made tortilla in addition to cafe con leche.

We’ll worth the stop even for those in town on their way out.

Bar Santa Clara lovely courtyard, good breakfast stop

Bar hostal Santa Clara was open by 7am on a Saturday. Good strong coffee and a lovely courtyard- it’s external appearance is deceptively dull.

This was the only place open

This was the only place open in Bercianos today (8 July ‘20). It’s not listed in this app but it’s clean, modern, welcoming and has a full menu. Individual, en-suite bedrooms cost 30€ and it lies just slightly off the Camino at the end of town (on the left). There are signposts leading to it.
Great coffee, bocadillo and WiFi. I recommend it.
