Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino Portugués app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

One bar and some picnic spots. The town is recognisable for the large bridge crossing the river. At the far end, the paved road gives way to a rural farm road — a clear path all the way to Omnias. There are no services for the next 13 km, so fill your water bottles here.

Public Toilets

There were public toilets here but the state of them would've only had me using them in an emergency.

Quinta da Burra open and great

Lovely stay at Quinta da Burra. Bookable by email. NB they no longer do dinner, but you can use kitchen so bring your own food. Nowhere to buy food in Porto de Muge. Great and tasty breakfast. Had nice double room with own bathroom. New owner and daughter v friendly.

To find the Cafe

To find the cafe, as the two roads meet up at the end of the village, you need to go back 'down' the other road for about 40m ...

Quinta da burra a good place to stay

Quinta da burra is open. There is a new owner so the tourists don't know that it is open. At the moment there are only single and double rooms. The dormitory is still being expanded so be sure to call and ask if there are any rooms left. The hosts are incredibly nice and accommodating, I can only warmly recommend them.

Did not find anywhere for water

All us pilgrims walking that day missed finding anywhere for water. I had run out at bottom of hill into final town and had to ask a resident who kindly filled my bottle... recommend at least 2.5 litres.

Quinta da Burra

25 euros a night for a private room and bath and a big breakfast. It’s a lovely place that you pass on the Camino. Bell to ring is at the small door to the left when you’re facing the big double doors. Might be good to bring your own dinner if you don’t want to walk back into town.

Quinta da Burra

Quinta da Burra is open for business again. Helga runs it. I have a room here tonight.

Toilets

Public toilet after bridge, but no paper there. Bring some yourself if needed.

Water

There are public toilets just as you enter porto de muge (varying cleanliness!) with a sign saying last water for 13jm, but there’s a cafe (if it’s opening hours) and a public tap in muge itself, so you can fill up there.

So glad I read the above.

So glad I read the above. Welcoming Hosts and a magnificent stay. This is a find. I'm on my seventh Camino and really can't think of anyplace nicer. Paula speaks perfect English so don't hesitate to call her and make a reservation. Thank you Paula for a fabulous remembrance.

Highly recommended to sleep

Highly recommended to sleep here, best place, Paula is such a nice person. Best acommodation, huge dinner, fresh juice for breakfest and you also have to make min. Two sandwiches for your camino. :D open for all pilgrims, who come, so don't worry, if you are late, as we were. Stay cost 20 E, dinner donation. You can wash your things there.

Paula is everything ppl say

Paula is everything ppl say and more. She is generous with her time and makes you feel at home. She has two dogs that roam freely and many street rescue dogs on site. She charges 20 euros for the stay with breakfast and her lovely dinner is pay-what-you-can. It’s rustic and peaceful. Highly recommended!

Amazing place to stay, worth

Amazing place to stay, worth the long long journey fr villafranca de xira. It was like a home away from home and Paula is simply the nicest person. It's these places and people that make the Camino what it is.

27. May 2019 - 15:32

Merchanta is also worth

Merchanta is also worth considering for welcoming accommodation. It has a higher price than most, but has a swimming pool and is a beautiful quinta.

5. April 2019 - 17:27

QUINTA DA BURRA-as previous

QUINTA DA BURRA-as previous comment, a lovely place to stay. Paula welcomes you with a big smile, tea or fresh orange juice and an offer to wash your clothes. Her place is lovely as is she. Dinner was simple but good and breakfast is filling. All you need for a night on the Camino is here.

2. April 2019 - 16:58

The subject field didn’t work

The subject field didn’t work properly - the name of the Paula’s farm stay is called Quinta da Burra. You can find it on google easily enough

2. April 2019 - 16:57

For some reason this is not

For some reason this is not listed under accommodation but it’s 1km further than the Casa do Rio and it’s an oasis. Paula the owner is a retired architect and undertook a massive renovation project of an old rundown farmhouse. She is warm, friendly, helpful. She cooks dinner for you, and you pay whatever you want. She’ll wash your clothes for you for free and make sandwiches for you to take on the Camino the next day. Wish I could stay here for a week.
