Santiago's largest suburb, and soon you'll have your first glimpse of the Cathedral. The camino passes through the back side of town, avoiding the busy main road with its apartment blocks. The growing network of highways around Santiago creates a series of crossings and zigzags — occasionally new and old camino stones point in different directions. At the choice between 'Santa Marta' and 'Conxo', take Santa Marta (left) for the most direct route.
The growing network of highways around Santiago mean that you will make a few crossings and zig zags before you get to the city limits. There are even a few occasions where new camino stones stand adjacent to old camino stones, each pointing in their own direction. One offers a choice between ‘Santa Marta’ and ‘Conxo’ and here the best and most direct choice is ‘Santa Marta’, or left.

Great pizza place. Went after seeing a comment on here. Worth every cent. You won't regret it. Share a pizza, they are big.

Directing me the wrong way, not sure why but he was waiting on the side of the road in a little shed and came out to my side of the road when he saw me. I ignored.

I absolutely loved my stay in the albergue. It felt more like a very good hostel with fluffy white towels and very friendly and helpful staff :) the place is clean and spacious.
It's also the perfect distance from Santiago if you need a break and want to arrive fresh in the morning.
Also this whole place smells like wood, I love it.

The El Rincón Siciliano, across the road from the PAYRO Hotel is a real gem. They make among the best pizzas I’ve ever had, and the Tiramisu, made by Francesco, the super-friendly waiter, is fabulous. An absolute MUST.

Hotel PAYRO is friendly, clean and an honest option for the price they charge. It’s good location allows for a short last leg into Santiago with energy to spare to walk around and enjoy the city for the rest of the day.

I definitely agree with previous reviews that it is a new clean comfortable albergue well equipped and worth mentioning is a very nice common space with a fireplace books - a comfortable place to sit together, think or talk…

Nice, new, clean albergue. Very good beds, great shower. Nice and cosy kitchen.
