Before entering Estella, a variant route branches off to the south, bypassing the city entirely and heading directly to Villamayor de Monjardín and Los Arcos. It's a rural alternative that avoids urban walking but also skips everything Estella has to offer — which is considerable.
The variant follows farm tracks and minor roads through open countryside. It's quieter and less marked than the main route. Unless you have a specific reason to skip Estella (or have already seen it on a previous walk), the main route through the city is the better option. Estella is one of the more interesting towns on the Francés.

It would be great if you would include it in your map. I know several pilgrims planning to walk that stretch this year. Thanks for a wonderful app. So easy to use. It’s been my go to for 6 Caminos.

The most popular in all guides is the middle Camino, going along the N-1110 to Estella.
The original Way bypasses Estella altogether, and leads through Luquin (Albergue Casa Tiago) to Los Arcos through an amazing landscape at the foot of Montejura, lots of it through woods (nice in summer!).
The northern variant (amazing!) leaves Villatuerta by the bakery on the other side of N-1110 at the exit of the town. Brings you to Estella by the new traffic circle - you will walk through the center of the town.
All three variants are very well marked now (from the end of 2019 pilgrimage season).
