Scenic view of Pasajes de San Pedro on the Camino del Norte

Camino del Norte App

Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino del Norte app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Services

Pasajes de San Pedro is the working side of the harbor — boat yards, cranes, and a commercial port that still handles significant cargo. It lacks the postcard atmosphere of San Juan across the water, but you won't linger here. The ferry drops you off, and the camino begins climbing almost immediately toward the Faro de la Plata.

The Camino:

Once off the ferry, the official camino turns right while a road variant turns left. Turn right to follow the coastline to the sea, passing a boat yard along the way. Where the road ends, the path and climb (on steps) begins. At the top the camino returns to a paved road, turn right when it does and follow it until it widens into a parking lot for the nearby Faro de la Plata (straight ahead if you want to visit).

Albergue Santa Ana Pasai Donibane

Public Toilets

As noted on prior post - public toilets once you exit ferry. Not clean! Too the left there are tavernas, open at 9:00 am. Clean bathrooms and chance to grab a coffee.

The Albaola Museum is an

The Albaola Museum is an excellent find. They are currently in the process of building a replica of a 14th century Basque ship using only the hand tools of the time. A self guided tour (in English) explains the history and importance of the Basque and their whaling ships. Can be done in 30-60 minutes and well worth the time.
