Camino del Norte App

Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino del Norte app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Services

Abadín survives on pilgrim traffic and truck traffic from the nearby interchange. It's brief — you'll pass through in minutes. From here to Santiago, your proximity to road traffic increases as the camino dances around the N-634.

Fiesta:

Santa Maria is celebrated on the 8th of September.

The Camino:

At the end of the very short Abadín, the camino turns right (following the sign to the Correos) and when it reaches the Correos (post office) it turns left. The road here is paved and quiet. Keep an eye open for the grassy trail that leaves the road to your right. It descends to cross the river and eventually returns to pavement, turning left when it does. It enters the area of As Paredes after passing over the A-8.

Albergue Xabarin

A wonderful place to stay on the Camino Norte. Daniel, the host is very helpful and the place is immaculate, hard to beat. No supermarkets supplies on a Sunday but the bar a few metres away does excellent food.

Albergue Xabarin

Believe it or not, this is our first albergue. We’ve been staying in hotels and pensions in triples.
What a fantastic introduction! We have a private room and bath. So clean and comfortable. Very modern and updated.
We paid for laundry to be done. 4 euros each.

The chef prepared a delicious

The chef prepared a delicious chicken paella for our group, in a huge, authentic paella pan and then served us individually. It was so flavorful. He told us in advance it would take 45 min to prepare and it was ready in 45 min! This is a restaurant run by a very talented trained chef of 50 years. The other great news - kitchen is open all day and we ordered at 715pm - much earlier than the typical 830pm starting dinner time.

We walked past Gontan to Abadin and we were glad we did! What a beautiful property. Our host Daniel was wonderful. This location brings new meaning to pilgrim delight. Only 4/6 Pilgrims per room. Spacious and clean bathrooms. Fully equipped kitchen, the best we've seen yet. Your bed is made up with cotton sheets and you are provided with a towel! Be kind to yourself and make this a must stop. Beun Camino.

Quite possibly my favorite

Quite possibly my favorite albergue on the Camino. Small clean rooms (4 and 6-person rooms), comfy beds with individual power outlets, linen and towel included, hairdryer in the bathroom, wonderful and well appointed kitchen, cheap and convenient laundry, great communal space, wonderful host - this place has it all!
