Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino Portugués app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

The ground behind you: what the walk into Grijó crosses, and where it could have been broken.
Tomorrow from Grijó
Nothing says you have to stop here, or there. These are simply the towns within a comfortable day's walk, so you can decide tonight.

The natural setting around Grijo is the prettiest for a long stretch — high walls, shade, and a welcome sense of enclosure after so much exposed road walking. The Mosteiro de Grijo, a former Augustinian monastery dating to the 10th century, is worth a stop. The church preserves Gothic elements and the monastery grounds provide a peaceful rest before the final push to Porto.

If you are looking for accommodation past Grijó and close to Porto, Casa da Serra is offering a very comfortable flat and amazing hospitality just outside of Serra da Caneles. We met Sonia today and she was the kindest person welcoming in pilgrims to her home. The best way to contact is via her website: https://casadaserra.my.canva.site/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR3F9zPZiNl…

Although it is pricey it is so beautiful and worth it. The lady offers to pick you up from the path since it is a bit out of the way. Port on arrival and biscuits as well as a menu for breakfast which is included in the price. Feels like oasis!

We walked in the Albuerge at 1.30 pm. The beds was not ready and the room not clean. All smells musty.
The bedroom ceilings in the first floor was moldy.
We went and find an other place to sleep.
I recommend you do the same.

The Coutorural offers a welcome alternative if you want to stay somewhere a little more luxurious. It is well signposted as soon as you arrive in Grijó. On offer is a farmhouse style dwelling with high quality units in a secure courtyard. It’s a haven of peace and even has a modest swimming pool. The hosts are superb, going out of their way to ensure you have a comfortable stay. It’s not cheap - I paid €67 for one night in August - but it was worth it as a place to relax, recover and prepare for onward Camino.

If you stop here for a rest or overnight there is a lovely bakery just off ‘the way’ (50 metres) called Forninho do Mosteiro. Lovely welcoming staff and delicious food. Just before albergue (search google maps for bakery and you will find it)

If you’re stopping here, the albergue is not located at the Monastery as indicated on the map. It is a small, yellow building on the left on the road as you approach the monastery. You must see the neighbor next door (first driveway beyond the albergue) who will let you in. He’s delightful. Bom Caminho!
