This is a wonderful and affordable municipal Albergue with a fully equipped kitchen and two supermarkets nearby. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the place is only half full, which makes it feel peaceful. I especially loved the open-air balcony connected to the kitchen — such a nice touch!”

I arrived into Vega de Valcarce with the intention of staying at the Municipal Albergue but it is closed. I don’t know why nor for how long. It looks like only a temporary closure, WiFi still works.

We arrived last minute and there weren't many of us here on a May evening but it was a heartwarming experience with a very kind hospitalaro. It had been drizzling off and on all afternoon, so he lit a fire in the main meeting room which was relaxing for all. So far, I find these municipal albergues to be down-to-earth with helpful hospitalaros

I stayed here a couple of nights ago and it was lovely. A covered, terrace-type kitchen fully equipped with cooker, fridge, pots, pans, microwave and dishes/cutlery.
A good-sized common room with big table and chairs. An outdoor terrace with tables and chairs, 2 showers & 2 separate WC’s. One large dormitory with 8 bunk beds, all with bed-bug-proof mattress and pillow covers and disposable bottom sheet and pillowcase provided as part of the 8€ bed price.
There is no heating so the Hospitalera said how long they stay open depends on how cold it gets and how many pilgrims pass through in the coming months. But they rent small blankets for 1.5€ per night.
