ASTORGA FROM THE VIA DE LA PLATA

Vía de la Plata app

Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Vía de la Plata app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

NOT RECOMMENDED!

I ordered in a hurry without checking previous comments.

It's very hard to walk an extra 4 km after a Camino day.

After 22 hours locals playing with a lot of high discussions in front of our window

Don't recommend!

Not recommended - way off the Camino track

Hostal Delfin - This place should not be on the suggested pilgrims’ accommodation. It is on the opposite end of Astorga in the industrial zone, adding at least 2km to the standard route there and the same distance to rejoin the Camino route in the morning. Probably the prime reason it only has a 1-star rating.

15 Jul

I am fascinated that there are not even fan’s around. This place is clean an comfortable and completely away from the Camino experience. It is located in a business area on the outskirts of town. I would not recommend this venue for pilgrims at all.

Bedbugs-September 2021

Made a reservation for 2 rooms through Booking.com because there didn’t seem to be any other place available. Upon arrival I asked the proprietor if we could look at the rooms before checking in. She was unfriendly and replied that it wouldn’t matter whether we liked them or not because we had already paid for them through Booking. We went to inspect the rooms and found evidence of bedbugs, so returned to reception immediately. The proprietor refused to refund our money. I contacted Booking and sent them pictures of the beds with the evidence of infestation. Booking contacted the property but since they refuse to refund my money, Booking will not give me a refund.

Update To Previous Comment - Run Away!

Adding to my previous comment, our experience at this hotel has been consistently horrible. The staff are surly and unhelpful at every chance. Avoid this place if there is any other option.

Not The Greatest Hotel

We made our reservation without seeing any reviews. This is a truck stop type of hotel on the main highway out of town. It is actually a couple of kilometers past the center of the city, so if you want to see the sights you have to go back. Bathroom is marginally clean. Fluorescent light in bedroom. For 5 more euros we could have stayed downtown in a much nicer hotel. I cannot recommend this place.
