Good Albergue

Right on Camino. Owner knows a little English and enough to get buy. I had a nice clean comfortable private room. I really liked the food, drink, and especially the eggs I could boil for dinner. Highly recommend!

Beautiful Albergue with garden

Good place to stay. The noise from the street was okay, could sleep well. We were only two pilgrims in the Albergue, so no problem that they have 8 beds in the room. Garden to sit outside. Nice idea to offer a small „supermarket“ where you can get many things from frozen food, fresh eggs, wine and beer…
450 meters behind the Albergue there is a fantastic Pasteleria for breakfast at early hours.

Update on our stay

Albergue is OK but remote, bakery close by for lunch, restaurant 10 min up the road Ha Leitoa is fabulous and amazing value. Noisy as constant heavy traffic 24 hours, garden is not so relaxing due to it. Friendly service but rooms are hot and stuffy as 8 beds in each small room.

Nice garden lots of beds in small rooms

Nice garden to relax in bar is self service with honesty box and good service. Only downside is lots of bunk beds squeezed into small rooms ours had 8 beds in a small room. OK value though

Lovely Welcome

I booked it without reading the reviews, and only read them when I was close by. I was worried after I'd read them! Especially because I hadn't slept well the two nights before (because of bad snorers in the dorms) and I had had an awful day of walking (heat and painful feet.

But when I arrived, the host was so warm and welcoming. She gave me a shot of a delicious liquor when she stamped my book, and she showed me her motorbikes after I told her my family ride (even though she mainly speaks Spanish, and no English - we made do either Gestures and pointing!)

I was surprised that the dorm room was empty! So no snorers! I had the whole place to myself. And I couldn't hear the traffic (maybe the windows had been upgraded?)

They have a lovely common room, games, some instruments, books and a good selection of food to buy.

I hope their pool gets filled up soon!

Thank you for your kindness :)

Nice place with a lot to offer. Self-service foods and drinks.

. On the negative side there were a lot of noise from the road outside and it was cold at night. Use earplugs!

A nova

Nice quirky albergue with self service food and drink with honesty box.
Thought it was odd to see a jar of ear plugs in the kitchen till I went to bed. Heavy road noise all night and dogs barking, which the ear plugs have little or no affect over.
No heating ; cold.

Albergue Albergaria-A -Nova

Great facilities, food available, wine and beer. My room was private, spacious with a lovely large bathroom that was shared. Carlos Rios, a peligrino was hospitaleir. He is also that man who has done many beautiful murals along the way. I recommend this albergue.

Nice stay, good place

Stayed in a 10-bed room and it was spotless, airy, clean and welcoming. It’s a very organised hostel, all the necessary facilities, plus a nice sitting areas in both shade and sun.
Hostel owner was very responsive over WhatsApp - although I needed Google-translate - but that’s my failing to speak Portuguese!

7. September 2022 - 23:40

Disappointed

Stayed in this albergue in 2019 and it was ok. However stayed again in 05/09/2022 and the place seemed more rundown. One of their dogs kept me awake by barking throughout the night. The noise from the trucks on the road outside during the night was also irritating. Ear plugs were no use. Got many mosquito bites in the dormitory during the night too.
Host was friendly though.

Stayed Nov 2019. they had

Stayed Nov 2019. they had no power for lights or for cooking so used a wood oven to supply the meal that was “by donation” so I overpaid a full 10 euros for a small amount that I felt awkward eating in the company of the residents (who were not exactly owners or hospitaleros. more like, lost folks who had found some kind of refuge).
5 dogs, no heat (a portable heater was offered to me but with the power going out for hours at a stretch, it did me no good). Empty reptile tanks in need of cleaning, and half finished bathrooms through half finished kitchen.
Had my knee not had more than enough on this day I would have walked on 5 k to the Catholic Refugio that was the next closest place to stay.

Welcoming host but speaks no

Welcoming host but speaks no English. The good smell in the rooms is misleading, they are actually dirty just like the bathrooms and the kitchen. Even saw a bedbug there this morning. I wouldn’t go to this place again for sure.

Not so clean, nobody speak

Not so clean, nobody speak english, but you can buy some food and drinks by own, which was great for the evening. Super is awfull

Full kitchen, kind of weird

Full kitchen, kind of weird bathroom facilities, but comfy room and beds. Just next to the highway. The cafe nearby is great.

Good Albergue, welcomed with cake at the bar. Warm comfortable room. Gave us a ride to a great restaurant and picked us up again.
