Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino Francés app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Emergency albergue

Had to stay at the overflow albergue across the street as the main albergue was full. Greatful to have a place but it needs cleaning and supervision. Musty smell was just the start. People entering at all hours. Loud and drunk not respectful of others. Awoken at 1 am to the big drunk guy in the bunk below me urinating on the floor next to his bed. Grabbed my things, stepped over the puddle and slept in the park a block away. Complained to the person who runs the albergues. With them gone not much to be done. Terrible.

Packed rooms, WiFi for locals only

Bedrooms packed like sardines you can’t even move without hitting somebody. Kitchen without pots, pans, no cups! Nothing but the smallest microwave. WiFi is for local number only coz you have to register to get access. Shower stalls no doors.

Overcrowded dorm rooms

This albergue features five dorm rooms at least two of which accommodate 30 people. The rooms are packed with minimum space between double bunks so if your gear doesn’t fit under the bunk it’s in the aisle. The room is hot because there is insufficient ventilation. As a result I left the hostel at 230am because of snorers above and next to me. The chances of that are unfortunate but with that many people in one room it’s not surprising. I do not recommend this hostel as a place to sleep.
I suggest they reduce the number of beds and provide some separation and subdivision like many other places along the way.

ok for 10€. Kitchen but no equipment

ok municipal albergue with a kitchen, but no pots, pans cutlery etc. However there is a small fridge and a microwave. Washing machines and dryers available. The price on the app says 12€, but it is 10€.

Really nice, clean place.

Had a great hot shower and the kitchen seems quite modern. It doesn’t seem full yet (almost 4pm) as there are a few dorm rooms not yet opened.

Today’s section from Sarria to Portomarin was the nicest I’ve had (scenery and track) since I started at Saint Jean in France.

Clean and cheap

Portomarin was our first stop and were surprised how many people do the camino without carrying there own stuff!!! Lots of people have there luggage brought from one alberque to the next and make reservations. This makes it hard for pilgrims who carry their own backpacks and who don’t want a pre arranged camino to find a bed. Luckily the government provides place like this without prebooking. It was clean and cheap. You have a bed and hot shower. What else do you need!
