Vreselijk, horrible

Horrible beds behind a curtain, only 2 showers for the whole building. I walked into the kitchen accidently, what a mess, like i am in a studenthoyse where no one cleans his stuff. No way i am going to est here, not diner not breakfast... i dont want to stay here but no slternative, so est outside sleep and on my way,...yuk

Very cold during the day and night.

Very cold during the day and night (May 2026). Owner is very chill and being chill is fine as long as you still get your shit together which wasn’t completely the case. Dinner was served late and was kinda mew. Most annoying was the cold in this old ingested building. Please be aware of that before reserving. It’s a donativo so you can decide what’s it worth to you. Hospitalero seems very kind and helpful. Also be aware that in the privado kitchen, the hospitalero smokes which can spread through the building . Also no stamp available.

This albergue is clised

I have just (04/03/2025) received a reply from the owner confirming that this albergue is closed.

La casa de last Sonrisas

There was no response to.either calling or messaging on WhatsApp the day before. ( apart from.a lady who apparently used to run the albergue, but no longer does).
On arrival rang the bell, rang the number, msg again...no reply at all. Locals whom I asked did not have a solution. A kindl
y gentleman from.another accommodation up the road phoned El Cuartel for me and I found a bed....actually a room! Anna there could not have been more helpful or hospitable.

“Bed” needs renewing badly !!! I

I had a place in a somewhat more private section right on top to the right. I cannot describe how badly I passed the night- I cried after some time and at midnight went to search for any other empty place. Luckily there was one. Please renew mattresses and bedsprings every once in a while. Like this even the 10€ is definitely too much.
The other good comments I share.

Sonrisa is a fee € Albergue

June 2024
I had previously stayed 10 years ago at Sonrisa when it was a donativo.

The Albergue is quite simple and adequate & 2024 a fee based €8 or €10 per night with shared bathrooms. The cafe owner runs theAlbergue and his family assist in Registering .
meals are available at the cafe but not at the Albergue .
It’s simple and homely with a combination of rooms and beds. It has a homely feel & charm

This is not a donovatio

This is now ran by the bar. It is 8 euro for bed with a sheet and pillow, plus a towel. There is no facilities to cook or eat there, you must go back down to the bar for food.

Our only donativo experience—a good one!

Warmly welcomed by Esther, who gave us a tiny private room off the main sleeping area for the same price. Bathrooms were cramped and we had to wait to use them, but not a problem. Sweet garden area. Lovely evening meal and shared experience.

Quiet, somewhat private, with good, simple food

Albergue de las sunrises is clean, simple, and very comfortable. We’re divided into several rooms so it even feels somewhat private when it’s not full.
David, the host, offered a simple breakfast with coffee and bread. He prepared a yummy, vegetarian dinner of nicely flavored lentils, pasta, a potato and cake concoction, a small salad, cookies from the bakery next door, and wonderful mint, lemon-flavored water. All the food is included in the cost.
It’s quiet. I would definitely stay here again.

Rustic and quaint

We were welcomed very warmly by Laura. The home is very rustic and quaint. No bunk beds which was a definite plus. The garden was lovely on a sunny day. Washed clothes in the garden sink and hung everything on the provided racks and line. The dinner was nicely prepared and we all shared in the meal. Downside was no hot water in the shower, very little toilet paper and it ran out quickly. All the shops were closed or would have run out and purchased it myself. If you are not looking for high end accommodations and are alright with simple this place is fine for the night.

Very nice place , highly recommend

Arrived on a rainy and cold day, was closed as check in is 2pm . The host opened for me to keep my bag as I await check in and walk around the village .Had a nice room with beds not bunks, sheets and blankets .She made us a lovely community dinner, we sat around and talked and after had an optional meditation session around the fireplace .She laid out breakfast early so those leaving early had an option to have some .A very lovely and compassionate host , embodies the spirit of Camino and shares her experience.
House was clean , cosy, warm and food catered for the body and soul.Highly recommended, I would return to stay here .

Overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke

Walked in, albergue reeked of cigarette smoke, walked out.

27. March 2022 - 9:14

Some context

This was a good place to stay, but some context is needed for the earlier comments. We were there in March. It is like staying at your Spanish grandmothers house. It was a little homey, it was not quite warm enough but fine, there were only two bathrooms but with 10 pilgrims it was not a problem. There was adequate hot water. The communal dinner was fantastic, the food was fine but getting to know the other pilgrims was a wonderful experience.

16. March 2022 - 10:16

great

the other reviews are outdated. i stayed here in march 2022 and it is a good spot. pretty small and only 2 bathrooms but that can be managed because it does not sleep many. the beds are comfortable and the group dinner and breakfast were great and memorable. would recommend. there is no stamp for credentials though.

3. September 2021 - 22:16

Horrible!

This is the most horrible place I have stayed so far! It’s literally falling apart. No hot water, barely light in the bathroom, uncomfortable beds, dirty….just not a nice place. Yes it is “donativo” meaning you can just donate something but still. Only nice thing was Alessandro that works here for a few months and cooked a jice dinner, was very helpful and just a nice person. By the way there is not even a SELLO for uour credential. Weird if you think this is a Pilgrim place!

16. March 2019 - 8:31

Stay anywhere else but here.

Stay anywhere else but here. Owners are never here, no stamp, only 2 toilets and 2 showers, but worst of all no heat! WiFi signal is not strong either

22. January 2017 - 8:09

Winter Camino

No heat but kind owner. Dirty and disorganized. Lots of possibilities but many are not realized.

9. October 2016 - 16:27

Cool space and good

Cool space and good atmosphere, great dinner BUT just one toilet and shower (same room), not very clean, possibly bed bugs.
