The place to stay in Castrojerez! The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. Peaceful places to rest outside. A great small pool to soak your tired feet. The best chicken on the camino...very generous portions.
A surprise tour of the wine cellar with all of Jose's fun dramatics.
Beds were comfy, no squesking! Bunks are divided into several rooms.
Definitely recommend!
Cash only so be prepared for that.

We had a delightful visit! The room was clean. Jose and Olga were friendly and accommodating. The chicken was the best we’ve had on the Camino. The wine cellar tour was fantastic!! Loved staying here!!

For those who don't know English or Spanish, it's easier to book an albergue through WhatsApp. However, it's embarrassing if the albergue doesn't have WhatsApp. The owner here not only manages the accommodation but also has deep consideration for the pilgrims. He also manages the albergue cleanly, and what is particularly impressive is that he conducts a tour from the restaurant to the basement at 8 PM, where there is an old 12th-century defense gallery.

This place is very clean, the dinner was great, the garden got an own spring, two of three WiFi are working, check which one you connect, after some time in a very private garden, we had a delicious chicken with potatoes and than at 8pm a guided tour in the old chambers under the hostel. A great experience, would recommend it to everyone

This was the most pleasant experience. The hosts are so friendly and helpful. My private room was very clean and comfortable. Dinner was good and filling and I got a nice vegetarian accommodation. The dining area and outdoor space are very nice. The wine cellar tour was worth the whole stay. It was done with so much fun and humor. No matter how tired you think that you are, walk a little more to see the castillo. This is a nice town to visit.

5:30am all lights go on and music on at 6:45am. They are ready for you to get moving. Don’t bother with the dinner, other great options in town. Small showers that you have to keep pressing the button every minute to stay on. No lounging area available when it’s cold out except the large dining table. When warm out, there is a decent garden sitting area.

The room is small but it’s quiet, the garden is tranquil, the wine cellar tour is fascinating and worth doing.
The food 2 doors down is much better!

This Albergue was welcoming and friendly. Not full, space. Historic Wine cellar tour worth doing. Had a good night's sleep

This may not be the smartest most spacious albergue you’ll stay in, though it was clean with hot showers and a lovely garden to relax in, but we will remember it for the warm welcome, kindness of Olga, and entertainment by Jose, including the after dinner tour of their wine cellars- would highly recommend.

Lovely Albergue, staff, dinner and cellar tour.
Stayed here 2 nights ago (21st September), but unfortunately I don’t think the bed sheets or pillow cases are cleaned between pilgrims as I’ve been bitten by bed bugs. Plastic mattresses with disposable pillow case and sheet would be better. I will let the staff know so it is clean for future pilgrims. Otherwise very lovely stay.

Lovely friendly hosts and the place is brilliantly quirky because of its history. Great facilities, separate bathrooms for men and women, lovely outside area with a cool pool to soak your weary feet. Dinner was great and it was followed by the cellar tour and history lesson of the property, this topped off a fantastic stay. Well worth it.

Jose made me feel very welcome. He made sure I relaxed and showered before dealing a details. I’m here in a hot spring day. The rooms are cool and there are many outdoor spaces.

Jose and Olga are wonderful hosts who share a lot of history and love with you during your stay. Jose leads a tour of the historic wine press and medieval wine cellar after dinner every night. Olga puts a lot of love into her cooking and also serves sangria with dinner! It was a lovely stay. Highly recommend.

I really wanted to like this place especially after all the lovely comments, but the albergue just doesn't care about pilligrims. Feels very commercial and for 13 eur it doesn't even provide the basic stuff a municipal would have.
The owner is friendly and tries to be helpful, his wife not so much.
Wi-fi not working
No soap or hand tissues in the toilets
Shower streams so far apart, it's hard to shower properly
Shoes are placed outside so if it rains, beware
No kitchen for use
Squeaky floors so you will hear people walking on the top floors very loudly
Sensor light in the hallway lighting up the rooms where people sleep because the door has a glass window rather than being solid
No rest area inside, just a very narrow hallway and the dining area which is closed until morning so everyone had to pack their stuff outside in the morning (so as not to disturb ppl still sleeping). Imagine if it rained.
Breakfast is at 7am and the cellar tour which is subpar starts at 8pm

I don't recommend this place.
No soap in the toilets.
Strange showers.
Move detectors for lights in the bathroom with crazy short delay. You need to move every second.
Totally commercial place. It is need your money, but not you.

This is one of those unique places on the Camino you will always remember. This is a clean, family run location right on the Camino. The hospitality is second to none. The highlight of the stay is a one of a kind tour (narrated by the owner) of an ancient wine cellar complete with animated stories.
