Camino del Norte app

Pilgrims on the road and friends along the way send me changes every day, and they go out the same day. The Camino del Norte app carries all of it offline, and it's still being built — new features arrive routinely.

Good place

Lovely place to stay and the best pilgrim menu we've received so far.

Loved it

Nice accommodation friendly staff and an excellent quality and price pilgrim meal. Ignore the negative comments.

Disappointing

The albergue is an afterthought on this otherwise lovely estate. The photos you see are of the private rooms. When we checked in, the host pointed us in the general direction of the albergue unit, but didn’t bother with is telling us about any of the amenities such as when dinner was served, how to access the laundry facilities, and didn’t even formally check us in . Inside the albergue, the bathroom was musty with mold around the shower and only one toilet worked.

Caters to tourists

They put all their money into the private rooms, which is fine except the private rooms were all taken by people not actually doing the Camino but just enough to get their two stamps a day so they can collect their certificate. Ugh! In the albergue, one toilet didn’t flush, the bathrooms were just passable. After walking the entire Camino it was a bummer.

Tourist stop indeed

The family is lovely and the food is absolutely incredible. Best meal in the Camino! It is a bit pricey but the meal is well worth the cost. The father was a chef and taught his daughter well. We were in the dormitory and thought we should have had paper towels and even soap in the washrooms at 17euro charge. The communal garden area is lovely with ponds and lots of visiting areas.

Great Albergue

A family run Albergue who made us feel very welcome .Rooms were very clean and well presented
36 days on the Camino and this was the best Pilgrim’s meal we have had.
Great value for money

Food and family atmosphere

This is a beautiful Albergue and was worth the 600 metre detour. The Pilgrims meal at 17 euros was the best I have had on the Camino. This is a family run business and a bit quirky but one of my favourites.

Great place!

Talk about above and beyond - I overheard another peregrina saying that she was going to have a massage and I told the owner I wanted one too but I didn't have enough cash, so they paid the massage therapist and added it to my bill so I could pay by cc!
Food was great! If you're sleeping in the dorm, avoid the beds by the toilet - the lights go on automatically and they're bright!

Strange place

Most of the clients were middle aged, middle class Americans with luggage they send on by courier service.
They all stayed in the posh accommodation.
Most of them seemed to struggle with walking to the restaurant never mind walking a Camino.
The handful of pilgrims sleeping in the albergue were delightful by comparison.
I enjoyed the evening meal and the breakfast.
I found the staff to be friendly and cheerful.

Definite oasis at the end of a hard day

I’m not sure why anybody thinks the owner is not welcoming. They were so nice to us and it was her birthday and still let us join in on her birthday party. The place is gorgeous. Very modern nice bathroom. The hot tub is not hot but pleasant place to put your sore feet with jets.

Beautiful- but the staff not welcoming

The staff acts like they would rather see your Heel than your toe. Gave up buying anyting in the café because it took so Long , and the lady there seemed like she tried to ignorere me. Apart from that it is a beautiful place with a lovely garden and a pool

Much needed oasis!

We absolutely loved this place! Beautiful outdoor seating area with fish ponds, lunch served until 3:30, hammock, and strong wifi (even in the albergue). Pilgrim meal was gourmet and the best food we’ve had for only around 15€. They did our laundry. 😊 Would highly recommend this place.

Not a good choice in Salceda.

I came here because it says it had wifi, it does but not in the Albergue room. It is about 500 meters away from the Camino, not really a good choice in Salceda.

Loud

The bedroom walls in the hotel are too thin, so I was kept awake and woke up by neighbours speaking at normal volume. The hotel clearly knows this since there is a request to keep the noise down from 23.00.
Food quality was very good.

6 October 2022

The albergue is ok , but the staff are a little grumpy and the vibe is not that good . When I got there I asked the lady if she had a bottom bunk and she said ‘no , if you don’t like it go somewhere else-I said sorry I’m really tired , she said so am I . In the morning the cafe opened at 7.30 am and the chef guy served two people before I entered then wouldn’t give me a coffee because he said he had to do other things and faffed around for ages . He was kinda rude too in his manner and attitude . The evening meal though , I must say is excellent -14 euro and high quality pilgrim meal .

2019 experience

A friend and I stayed in the albergue. We enjoyed the experience and great to have a few beds only. The food was outstanding so I am really surprised at some of the negative experiences. I have recommended it to several people

27. April 2022 - 17:01

Call before taking the time to walk over

It’s a ways off the Camino and is often full.

WONDERFUL FOOD AND PLACE!

The night before Santiago!!! LOVED this place! We got a private room and loved that a blanket was built into the bedding within the sheets! The people, family, that run this place make it very special though! They made room for pilgrims who joined us for dinner but stayed elsewhere and also made room for a late arrival! Their dinner was splendid, my friend got “ fish with vegetables” and it came out with broccoli , asparagus and an added scallop!!! A wonderful night!!!!!

Nice Twin Room - Good Place

Nice newer place with good restaurant. Good friendly people running it. A little bit like a resort, but in a very relaxed way. We stayed in a nice double attached to the albergue building. No wifi just for that room. All of the rest of the place has good wifi.

30. June 2019 - 21:04

We stayed in a twin room, it

We stayed in a twin room, it was beautiful, great sized bathroom and shower. Rustic feel, beautiful! The pilgrims menu was huge and very very good, first time I’ve seen mashed potatoes on the Camino!
