Bed Bugs and Mean Staff (2026)

I would not recommend you stay or eat here. People woke up bitten by bed bugs, and they dismissed the concerns. Also, the staff were incredibly mean to all the guests. I didn’t see anyone being demanding or rude, but the staff talked about the appearances of guests in Spanish (though multiple people could understand), refused to serve some people at the bar and yelled “busy busy busy!” in their face when they were trying to get their attention (later confirmed with manager that they were the correct people to ask), and even took and threw away a girl’s sandwich that she made at breakfast time. I’ve never seen such lack of hospitality, and I’ve stayed in some crazy places!

That all being said, the pool was great! If you want to use the pool, which was open when I came, you can spend 5€ to get access. Some people came for lunch and then walked to the next town in the evening.

Would stay again

Nice place to stay but not pilgrim oriented. Have many amenity’s pool locker meals and beautiful views.

Nice Modern Place with a Mountain Views

Loved this modern place…very clean…good restaurant and bar…good facilities to wash your clothes and hanging. I had a very restful stay at this beautiful modern Alburgue.

It’s not 12€

I booked thru wisepilgrim via Booking… it was 22.85€. While it’s
A modern place, the women’s shower is down stairs then back up others. The woman at front desk is rude. Getting food or drink in cafe area was a joke. They seemed to take care of big tables but forget ya if you are solo. I am glad it’s only 1 night

100% yes

I arrived in town to stay at the donativo only to find it closed. The only other albergue not fully booked was here, so little choice for me. It was fantastic. I have paid more at municipal albergues and got way less. Cost is 14€. The place is clean and very modern, more like a hotel. There is no mould in the bathrooms. Bunk beds are really comfy. Dinner at 16€ was absolutely Devine.

Pros and cons

Modern Albergue. Ask for a dorm with balcony views to enjoy sunset over the mountains. Receptionist is nice. Food is great. Breakfast at 7 is worth waiting for - pay when you book. Door is open to leave before 7 despite the sign. Spa was closed. Avoid the massage - untrained, unprofessional and dirty.

Can’t recommend this Alburgue

I confer with some of the comments above. The huge disadvantage is that this is such a pretty village with a nice vibe, by the time
You get to this Alburgue you are too knackered to walk back to the Village

Empty pool & dirty showers

It’s 30 degrees- no water in the pool. The showers had mould everywhere, and the water came on in 10 second intervals. Hot water at first, then it cools off before it shuts off. Ladies bathrooms are down a flight of stairs, then up another flight of stairs. Washing machine 7 euros. The hallway lights at night are not dimmed. The top bunk bed was so low that I was unable to sit upright on the bottom bed. This is really hard to organise and pack when you’re exhausted- I had to squat on the ground. It’s right at the end of town, and an uphill walk to get food from elsewhere. The building and outlook are lovely, but clearly has some problems.

Not a typical albergue

This is a new and very modern albergue that seems unlike others on the Camino. There is a sign advertising this albergue on the way into town which has been defaced with negative comments. It seems this albergue may be run and staffed with people other than locals, and perhaps there is resentment there. Nevertheless, it's a nice place to stay.

My Favorite Albergue on the Camino

What a beautiful setting this place is, the views from our balcony are stunning. The pool with lounge chairs, plenty of shade if wanted was heavenly and so refreshing. The atmosphere feels luxurious and relaxing. It has spa treatments that I didn’t get a chance to try but what a treat. The rooms have views and a balcony to sit and look at the views. It feels like a resort instead of an albergue.

June 4 no pool for one more week

As of June 4 the pool won’t be ready for another week

A resort

This is very comfortable clean and modern. Good for the price. The staff are not friendly and can be a bit rude. The meal was good.

No check service so moved on

I arrived here tired after a 30km walk. Walked up to bar and asked hiw do I check in. Bar was very busy so I waited 15 minutes and asked again about checking in. He said the check in person was not in and he was not sure when he would be back.
I waited 10 more minutes, then took my backpack and went down the road to check in at the donativa.
My impression is that he bar is more important than assisting pilgrims with their booking

Dirty and shady

We had a double bedroom with private bath, called Deluxe… what a joke! It was situated outside the main building, dirty, small and outdated. None of the “spa” facilities were open.

Great place!!

After walking 35kms from Murias, this place was wonderful. New, clean, fantastic views, really good service, clean, spacious bathrooms and comfortable beds, this place makes a great impression. More like a resort.

Okay but could be much better

I stayed here last night. The staff were great, although they could have had more bar / waiters. From my experience it does need a lot more to make it enjoyable as a pilgrim I felt like the pilgrim part was an afterthought. The place was clean & beds comfortable but & it’s a couple of big ones: why is the ladies shower & toilet in a different area to the rooms, they managed to put the men’s on the same floor, why was the water in the showers boiling hot as soon as you turned it on which is dangerous. The water in the hand basins was boiling hot after about 15 seconds, you couldn’t adjust this & you had to ask someone to get your water bottle filled. As pilgrims we just want to be able too fill it without worrying anybody, the staff were busy enough as it was and working very hard. After a long day walking we shouldn’t have to worry about these things.

Still bedbugs

Still bedbug issue. Left note at reception. Several rooms are taped off but they need to do full fumigation! Off to laundromat.

12. July 2023 - 20:20

Fingers crossed

Just saw posts. There are 2 rooms fully taped off that we see. Have checked my mattress, so far don’t see anything. Fingers crossed. Wish more places used totes and keep bags out of rooms. Too many stick their bags on the bed.

BEDBUGS (July 2023)

Sadly, can confirm that this place has bedbugs. It seems really nice, but another pilgrim who was staying there the same night found them in her bed and I also woke up covered in bites the next day (even though I tried to inspect my mattress). Reviews from Google suggest that the owners know and aren't doing anything about it except blaming pilgrims. So I can't see that the issue will be fixed, as getting rid of bedbugs requires serious treatment. They seem to think having done the annual fumigation is sufficient (it's not!). Hope others are luckier than me, but wanted to warn folks. This place may seem nice, but buyer beware!

7. July 2023 - 22:40

Bed bugs

Staff were alerted by 2 in the room and moved them, left us asleep. Very obvious on mattress by morning and now covered in bites+.
Noted later on reviews from 2019 and June 23 on booking.com. OTHERWISE: offered pilgrim dinner which was decent, lovely pool area, clean bathrooms.
