It was ok (2.5/5 stars)

I stayed with some friends on 25 August 2026 along with most of the group of pilgrims that all started together from St Jean, so the atmosphere was great. It is situated next to a river where you can soak your feet.

The albergue itself was pretty average, the volunteers did not seem to enjoy being there, and the female showers (3) and toilets (2) were pretty dirty. The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking but is quite small so only one group can cook at a time.

Municipal Albergue de Nájera

I had a fantastic stay here! Brian especially was fantastic; as a fellow pilgrim, he understood exactly how to provide for the pilgrim’s need while lifting the spirit. Was genuinely fun to chat with him, which reflects the overall atmosphere!

full with turigrinos

at 14:30 full. big groups of south coreans with baggage transport :-(

7. March 2026 - 14:45

Kinda rude first week in March?

Slightly bitchy energy coming from the volunteer whose first words were "first all, go outside and put your shoes over there." Other than that it's a functional albergue. Seems like the most rules oriented of all that I've been to so far. Kick you out at 8am at the latest

The Stove works

This place is fantastic especially for the price. I can confirm people are using the stove.
This place filled up about 3.30 today

A Warm Albergue

The volunteers of the Albergue give a warm welcome with a smiley face. They stay at the Albergue all the time to offer help and guidance. And a cup of hot coffee in the morning to warm my stomach before we start our walk.

Good place to stay

It was a good place to stay. Despite the big room, there was not much noise. The showers were enough for all pilgrims. They even opened a little earlier than 2. The stove is broken, just to give heads up. It depends on donations, minimum is 6€.

Liked it a lot

I enjoyed my stay here. It was clean and the hospiliteros were really nice. The bunks are wooden which was a great change from the wonky and noisy metal ones. The bathroom stalls were a bit small but they had separate bathrooms for male and females which I appreciated.

Wonderful

Such a lovely hostel, you cannot believe it is only 6euro. The hospitalieros are lovely kind men. They keep the fairly small spaces for so many pilgrims feeling spacious. They really should charge more, But you will not regret coming here, it is genuinely is a good place to stay with all the things a simple pilgrim needs.

29. October 2024 - 17:26

Wrong phone number

Phone number is 941095730
Fully equipped kitchen with all appliances working

27. June 2024 - 14:22

No working ability to heat food

Stove is seemingly permanently broken. No oven or other way to heat food, hard to eat when you plan on a kitchen to make food.

27. June 2024 - 13:33

Wrong opening time

Opens at 14:00 now (2:00 pm).

5. October 2023 - 20:11

Refurbished

I see they had refurbished and reduced the number of beds. I stayed here in 2018, i like the new changes, but I miss the old bunch of hospitaleros.

5. August 2023 - 14:59

Avoid

Awful. Not atmosphere. Set among decrepit buildings.

Hated this place. Could not wait to move on

15. May 2023 - 13:47

Closed for repairs

This is closed for repairs. Redirects munipical pilgrims to Fronton Municipal, but it doesn't open until 4pm. Be careful of Najero, difficult to find a bed without booking.

21. April 2023 - 15:39

Closed! April 2023

We got to Najera today hoping to stay there but it is closed for repairs.

9. October 2022 - 20:42

Great space

We were a group of 3 and were put in a room with just 3 beds..perfect! It was a shared bathroom with the rest of the floor but is was large and clean. Great space downstairs with a mini fridge and plenty of tables.

8. November 2021 - 11:56

Update: Nov 8 2021

I arrived here yesterday, Nov. 7, 2021, as a first time hospitelero. There are 45 beds available, half capacity, in one room. The albergue now opens at 14, WiFi is planned for the future but it is not in operation now.
