Wouldn’t recommend

Straight to the point - jot very clean, €20 a person, laundry area is tiny, kitchen is even tinier, and it’s definitely NOT worth the price. This is the most expensive albergue so far and with no dinner or breakfast included, it’s rubbery. Again, would not recommend

Friendly Alburgue

After a long day we arrived at the Alburgue Rojo Plata. The owner is a super friendly and helpful guy. We were warmly welcomed and the place is clean and nicely presented. There are a number of bars that were open until 3pm (ish) and we had a great lunch. Supermarkets open again at 5pm. A lot of the bars open again from 6pm to 8pm. There's a kitchen at the Albergue and you can buy pre-packaged meals there for the microwave. 18 euros per person.

Albergue is fine but not much interesting town

18 euros for bunk and some breakfast. Chap was responsive to what's app reservation and helpful on arrival. He came and put the heating on for us. Wifi and bathrooms look fine. There is a Spar shop at the end of the same road.

If you are coming from Villafranca it's 27km on a long track road and I didn't fancy another 15km to Merida. So it's fine for the night. Just don't expect much in this town.

As for the other town it might be nicer but i understand its 5km off the trail. It's your choice.

Not the best but can stay

The host was decent, squeaky beds, rusty shower, but there was toilet paper. It doesn't seem worth 18eur, but it is a place to sleep and stay.Kitchen has microwave and stovetop and some tools, bread, margarine and coffee for breakfast

Poor Albergue

This has mixed reviews good and bad but the reality is it really isn't very good. No toilet paper in men's and ladies, Aircon not working, rusty shower fittings and creaking beds. Look, I've stayed in many many Albergues on all the Caminos and I'm not fussy but this is poor. The landlady is miserable, the kitchen dirty and unusable and the patio area is small and useless and the whole place feels like the owners just can't be bothered. I believe they have a restaurant on the main street as well. The actual town is uninspiring and if you can avoid this place then push on to Melida.

Not as good as recent reviews

I arrived at the albergue about 2:30, and the owner promptly took my passport and credencial, as well as my money, and then showed me the bathroom that was filled with dirty laundry—about 7 bags. When I discovered that I needed medical attention and informed him that I would be leaving, he simply refilled the sheets that I had been lying on for about 45 minutes.

Great place to stay

Wasn’t quite sure what i was letting myself in for after reading some not very good reviews but I really liked this place it was lovely and clean, shower was great, comfy bed (i nearly overslept!). The owner was super-kind and helpful and the food and staff in the bar run by the same family was great. In all after a 28km walk to get there it was just what was needed!

Good clean Albergue

I booked for 2 on booking.com and got a room with en suite shower and toilet for €20 each. This included sheets and towels. The hospitaleros daughter owns the local bar and for €12 you get a ticket for evening meal served from 7pm and breakfast at 6am.

Good albergue

This is a nice place. Nothing fancy, but clean, nice dorms that are not crowded, good bathrooms, friendly owner, option to wash and dry clothes and small seating area. No kitchen, just a microwave. But plenty of restaurants in town.

Refurbished/ new owner?

The reports below do not seem to be accurate.
Place was clean and comfortable. hospitalario saw me walking into town and drove back to the albergue to check me in. I cannot comment on the food, I didn’t eat there but didn’t hear any complaints.

This albergue has lots of bad

This albergue has lots of bad reviews. In reality it is absolutely fine and there is no other real option on this part of the camino, as you pretty much have to stay in this village. The beds were comfy, shower hot, place to wash and dry clothes and small kitchen. Bars in village do food.

This Albergue is not so nice.

This Albergue is not so nice. Very warm in the rooms. Not so friendly and service minded hosts.
It seems that they just Do it for money and nothing more. Would not stay there again, i am not picky, but even a pilgrim has a lowest standard request.

As a pilgrim i am grateful for what accommodation I find, but Rojo Plata is my exception. This is a poorly run albergue where money seems to be the only motif for the owner. From charging 5€ to turn on the air conditioning for an overcrowded dormitory, lack of toilet paper, overflowing rubbish bins, there is no effort made at all. Also a pressure sell to ‘buy’ the meal deal to eat in the owners restaurant should be avoided, there is a better cheaper restaurant 100m up the road. It’s the first time I felt just a money producer for the albergue owner on this camino

Not the best albergue.

22. March 2018 - 14:49

In fact

In the reality in this albergue there is no terrace or patio, there is no lounge too, the kitchen is just like a small closet with nothing except a microwave and 2 electric plates. Only one personne can stay in the kitchen . but there is a dinning room with a fridge. If you need cooler or heater in the dormitory you had to pay 5€ more but it is not possible to have access to the remote control. the price is 12€ for a bed with nothing included and it is not a good value . not necessary to pay in advance for the diner or the breakfast it is the same price .
