First Albergue on my first Camino

First Albergue on my first Camino ....this is the first albergue I have stayed last year when I did my first Camino. The palce was under renovation when I stayed but the hospitalera was so kind to offer the air-conditinioed room. perhaps she saw my very tired face. Good vicinity for meals and shopping.

Setting proper expectations

This place has no breakfast, AC, refrigerator, or shampoo/soap. The cost is €18 which is waaaay too expensive for an albergue. I’ve done the camino norte so I have plenty experience. Skip this albergue if possible. The lady (Pilar( is definitely nice and all, but it’s not a reason to stay here if you ask me.

Lovely albergue

€15 dorm. Lovely helpful staff, clean and quiet. Hostal Frances 5 mins walk up the road does decent €8.50 menu del dia (drinks extra).
No water/food between here and Castilblanco.

Pilar and Peter are very nice helpfull hosts. The albergue is very clean. Everything is there for basics. Shop is at 600 mtrs and at hostel bar Frances you can get a menu del dia for only 8,50
The room on the Maine road is a bit boost from 5 am

Nice hospitalero

It’s a nice alburgue in a quiet town. I arrived little late around 4pm and called the place and the volunteer came out and helped me checked in for the night. They do have hot water for the shower and fan in the room to keep somewhat cool. Only thing is when I got to the town all the shops were closed so no place to eat or buy food.

A Welcome Stop

Made a reservation, a mixup on arrival, but all was straightened out. Both hosts were friendly and helpful.

Arrived at 4:30pm. No beds

Arrived at 4:30pm. No beds left and private hostel closed. The hospitaleros went out of their way to accommodate us and make us feel welcome. People have commented on the German hospitalero. He was absolutely wonderful.

Basically barked at from the moment we arrived by an over zealous older German man. Front room above main entrance is extremely noisy. The place where they sent us for “menu peregrinio” was almost inedible. Maybe try the municipal.

6. September 2018 - 13:15

Very angry unhelpful German hospitaliero

We arrived tired after our first day to be met with a very rude German sitting at the desk with his shirt off ( it’s hot ) proudly announcing that he and the whole town were full. No empathy or help, not a glass of water. I have worked as a hospitalero and I hope I have never received a pilgrim in such a way. 2 minutes on booking.com found me a room a few km away. It’s worth noting fiestas in Guillena 2-8th sept 2018 so it’s busy.

Gracias Pilar.

Nice and clean with a lovely hospitalera. Note, the location of the albergue is off in the app. Just stay on the main rd as you come into town and it will be on your left.

This is a very, very good Albergue with an absolutely wonderful hospitalero, Peter. He walked different Caminos himself eight times. This is my fifth camino and I would say this is one of the best albergues I've been to. Marie Oliv from Sweden.
